Hate Note by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward ~ COVER REVEAL

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end . . .

The Naked Truth by Vi Keeland ~ Sarah A’s Review

It was just a typical Monday.

Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client.

After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed.

Or so I thought…

Until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch.

My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance.

And that was the good part of my day.

Because the gorgeous man crouched down and looking at me like he wanted to eat me alive, was none other than my ex, Gray Westbrook.

A man who I’d only just begun to move on from.

A man who my heart despised—yet my body obviously still had other ideas about.

A man who was as charismatic and confident as he was sexy.

Somehow, I managed to make it through my presentation ignoring his intense stare.

Although it was impossible to ignore all the dirty things he whispered into my ear right after I was done.

But there was no way I was giving him another chance, especially now that he was a client…was there?

I just have to get this off my chest: I HATE the cover of this book. It’s awkward and pointless; I kept hoping there would be some big moment in the novel where it made sense, to no avail. Thankfully, the actual book far surpassed the cover art. The Naked Truth was fun and flirty, peppered with enough heavy subject matter to keep me invested in Layla and Gray’s story.

Layla and Gray were both fabulously strong characters. I found Gray’s raw honesty and commitment to never lie to Layla refreshing in a world where so many romance novels are predicated on lies of omission or miscommunication. They both had more than their share of reasons to be distrustful of everyone else, so the stark candor they practiced with each other was the only way they were able to navigate their way to a relationship.

The Naked Truth is one of the most unique second-chance romances I have ever read. Given the circumstances under which they first met and formed a relationship, they had an entire set of issues to overcome most couples don’t. Even after they overcame their strange beginning life continued to lob all kinds of curve balls at them. I loved that neither of them laid down and just took the beating they were given, and they both fought for what they needed on a personal level with grace and understanding.

The secondary characters in The Naked Truth were life. They added so much value to the story and gave us such a fascinating insight into the lives and hangups of both Layla and Gray, while still maintaining their places as standalone characters. Even the character I wanted to hate was so well-written I felt more compassion for them than I wanted to.

I wish the loose ends were more fully wrapped up. There were two subplots that felt like they were just forgotten about by the story ended and I would have loved to have seen some closure for them, especially since one of them was the impetus for most of the plot.

The Naked Truth is a complete standalone novel. The story is complete in a single novel. The book is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Layla and Grayson.

“May I get you something to drink while you wait for the rest of your party?” the waiter asked.

I would normally wait to see what the client did and follow his lead on alcohol. But tonight was not the norm.

I rubbed at my stiff neck. “I’ll take a vodka cranberry, please.”

I hoped it would help calm my nerves and release some of the tension in my jaw before I gave myself a full-blown headache. Taking out my phone, I started to scroll through emails to distract myself while waiting for my drink and dinner companion.

My head whipped up at the sound of Gray’s voice behind me. “Sorry I’m late.”

My heart unexpectedly fluttered, and I fought against the feeling of excitement. “Are you really? Because I get the sense you don’t have any manners after the way you interrupted me a million times today.”

He completely ignored my attitude as he took the seat across from me. “Traffic is a bitch getting downtown at this time. Next time we’ll have dinner at my place.”

“There won’t be a next time.”

Gray’s mouth curved into a smug smile as he snagged my gaze. “Sure there will. There’ll be plenty of next times. And eventually you’ll stop pretending you don’t enjoy my company.”

I hated that my body reacted to him. Right from the very start, we’d had a crazy chemistry between us that was difficult to dull.

I sighed. “What are you doing, Gray? Why did you come to my firm?”

He lifted the cloth napkin in front of him and laid it across his lap. “Isn’t that obvious? I need new legal representation.”

“At my firm? And you’d prefer that representation come from an associate instead of my boss’s boss—the head of our securities division? Or even from Pittman, who would gladly hold your hand and provide you whatever legal advice you need from his fifty-plus years of experience?”

“Loyalty is important to me. I want someone I can trust with my business.”

“And you’ve decided that’s me? An associate with five years experience who just got off probation with the Bar Association for violating attorney-client privilege?”

The waiter arrived with my drink. “Here you go, ma’am.” He turned to Gray. “May I get you something to drink? Or would you like to wait until the last of your party joins you this evening?”

“It’s just the two of us. I’ll have a Macallan, neat, please.”

“Coming right up.” The waiter walked around to the other side of the table and started to remove the third place setting.

I put my hand out, stopping him. “We actually do have another party coming, so you can leave that.”

“Very well.” He nodded.

Gray waited until the waiter was out of earshot. “I didn’t invite anyone else to dinner.”

I sipped my drink and offered a saccharine-sweet fake smile. “I did. Figured an important client like you should have more than one attorney to answer his questions.”

Just as I set down my glass, I saw the other man I was waiting for enter the restaurant. He scanned the room, looking for me, so I held up my hand and waved.

“Perfect timing. There’s Oliver now.”

Gray glanced at the man heading toward us and back to me. Instead of being pissed off, the jerk was amused. “That’s cute. You invited a chaperone because you don’t trust yourself with me.”

NEW RELEASE!! Rebel Heart by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland ~ Sarah A’s Review

A Contemporary Romance Duet

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Authors
Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

Rush and Gia’s story continues in the gripping conclusion to Rebel Heir…

How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:

Sleep with your boss. Check.

Blow all your money on a rental you can’t afford. Check.

How to walk away from a man you fall in love with at the end of a summer:

…I’ll let you know when I figure it out.

Rebel Heir is the second book in the Rush Series Duet.  Book One, Rebel Heir, is available for sale now.

Amazon US | B&N | iBooks | Kobo | GooglePlay

Rebel Heir left us on a huge reveal. Epic even. I was so happy to get my hands on Rebel Heart to see how that affected Rush and Gia’s relationship. Rebel Heart put my heart through the wringer in the best way. It was a major angst-fest, but I never for one second questioned Rush and Gia’s love for one another.

As much as I loved Gia and Rush in Rebel Heir, they were better in Rebel Heart. They were dealing with a pretty devastating revelation on top of all the things they already had on their hands and instead of acting out and being petulant about things they couldn’t change, they acted like adults and took the time and space they needed to work through everything. They communicated well, and it was so refreshing not to have assumptions and miscommunication be the root of conflict. I’m not saying it was an easy road, far from it, but I loved how it was handled.

Gia was in, quite possibly, the most unenviable position a woman can be in. I couldn’t imagine being her. Yet, she handled it with as much grace as a person in her place could. She didn’t make excuses; she didn’t whine in a corner. She grabbed her awful circumstances, reigned them in, and made the best she could of a life she never expected, even as she lost the life she thought she’d have for a hot minute. She was a pillar of strength while the world around her was crumbling. Sure, she had her moments of despair, who doesn’t, but she remained her smart-mouthed self, pulled on her big girl panties, and tried to make lemonade.

The new information was no less life-altering for Rush. After his behavior in the first part of Rebel Heir, I was pleasantly surprised by how well he handled himself in Rebel Heart. With one small exception, he didn’t resort to destructive behaviors to cope. He was unendingly supportive and protective, even when he wasn’t sure if he could come to terms with everything. I loved that he didn’t take what amounted to a monumental mistake on Gia’s part out on her since there was no way she could have anticipated the consequences.

Rebel Heart was a very moving story. It dealt with some pretty heavy subject matter in a considerate, sensible manner. One of my favorite things about it was how respectful Gia and Rush were of one another’s feelings, while still moving to protect themselves and heal from the pain they were dealing with. Having Rush’s relationship with a man who wasn’t his birth father, but a father-figure no less, play such a pivotal role in his decision-making process was fabulous. There were so many things about this book that were perfectly done; I could wax poetic about them forever, it seems.

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland collaborations are some of my favorites. They do such an amazing job of playing off each other and coming up with new, interesting storylines; I always find myself completely lost in their books. The Rush series duet is undoubtedly my favorite work of theirs, to date, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next, as their work is just becoming better with time.

How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:

Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.

Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.

How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:

Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd.  A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.

Check. Check. Check.

I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.

Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.

Especially when he’s mean to you.

Or so I thought.

Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.

That was sort of how it all started with Rush.

And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.

I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.

As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter.  My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet.  Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

Wow. I did not see that ending coming. And I need Rebel Heart NOW! Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward completely blew all their past work out of the water with this book. I’ve read a few of their other collaborations, and they don’t hold a candle to the magic they achieved in Rebel Heir. I love every second of this book.

Rebel Heir is the first book in Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s Rush series duet. The book does end with unanswered questions, but book two, Rebel Heart, is scheduled for release on May 22, so the wait isn’t unbearable. The story is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Gia and Rush.

First, I have to tell you how much I loved Gia. Is it possible to describe a person as both outspoken and reserved? Because I felt Gia exhibited both traits. She was quite a quandary, with Rush she felt so much freer than she did when left to her own devices. From the off, she had a special dynamic with him, and it seemed to boost her confidence in a fantastic way. Regardless of what came at her, however, the girl was tough, she took whatever was thrown at her, dealt with it, and pushed through.

Rush was a study in not judging a book by its cover. The face – dare I say mask – he wore for the world belied who he was behind that carefully constructed façade. While I did love his gruff, bad boy persona, the man his mother raised – his true self – was exceptional. His loyalty and protective nature were endearing, and it was easy to understand exactly what Gia saw in him. Side note, I absolutely adored his mother and hope we get to see more of her in Rebel Heart.

Now, I’ve read a ton of romance novels, and it’s rare to find a book that includes something I haven’t read before, but the twist in Rebel Heir is not something I’ve read before, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. Given the information we have, it could either go really poorly or amazingly well. I am on tenterhooks waiting for the next book as I can’t wait to see how things play out with the added wrinkle to their already complex situation.

I love Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, both the work they do together and their solo projects. Their stories are consistently compelling and consuming, with interesting dynamics and wonderful characterizations. I love both of their writing styles and continually attempt to decipher who wrote which chapters on their co-writing projects, it adds an extra layer of intrigue for me.

“All done.”  I found Gia in the yard sunbathing.  Of course, she had to be lying on her stomach so I could get a closer look at her ass.  It was fucking phenomenal. Like a chubby, upside-down heart from where I stood. I’d spent the last hour pretend fixing her car and picturing her riding me reverse cowgirl, those ass cheeks jiggling like fucking Jell-O while she rode me hard.  I had to force my eyes to her face and clear my throat to continue. “Here are your keys. Your rotors were shot, too. In the future, don’t ride on bad brakes. It just turns a little problem into a big one.”

She shielded her eyes from the sun and twisted her neck to look up at me, still not flipping over to her stomach.  “Oh. Okay. Thanks. Can I make you some lunch? It’s the least I can do to repay you for hours of working on my car.”

Is that ass on the menu?

“No.  I have to get going.”

She lifted from flat on her stomach to on her knees in a yoga-like pose, taking her sweet ass time before turning over.

“Are you sure?”  She bit her bottom lip.  “You’ve had to have worked up an appetite.”

Is she fucking with me?  I had an appetite alright.  “I gotta run.”

I sounded like a broken record, yet here I still stood.  My head wanted to get the fuck out of that yard, but my traitorous feet wouldn’t move.  Not even when she stood up, turned around and practically rubbed her ass against me as she held up suntan lotion.  “Could you rub some sunscreen on my back before you go? I don’t want to burn.”

No.  “Sure.”

“Thanks.”

I took the sunscreen and squeezed a glob of creamy white lotion into the palm of my hand.  Swallowing hard, I began to rub it into her back. Her shoulders were warm and soft with the tiniest little layer of fuzz on it.  It reminded me of a peach. My mouth salivated at the thought of biting into her.

“Could you do a little lower?”

My breathing became labored and my cock swelled as I lowered my hands and rubbed into the middle of her back.  I was breaching into dangerous territory.

“Lower” she said.  I knew from her breathy voice that I wasn’t the only one aroused.

I lowered to just above her bathing suit bottom and rubbed lotion all over.

When I finished, she turned her head so I could see the side of her face and closed her eyes to whisper, “lower.”

Fuck me.

I couldn’t stop myself.  I reached for the creamy sunscreen and squeezed enough into my hand to cover a large person’s full body and then began to rub it into her ass cheeks.  She had the most unique heart-shaped mole on her left side that was perfectly symmetrical. I ran my fingertips over it. When I trailed a pool of lotion to the top of her ass crack, and slowly rubbed it in tracing the material of her bathing suit in between her cheeks, she let out a low moan.

More.  Make more sounds like that.

Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward ~ COVER REVEAL
