RELEASE DAY BLITZ & REVIEW – Chasing Spring by R.S. Grey

I thought I’d left Blackwater, Texas behind for good. I didn’t belong in the small town, but my dad wouldn’t listen. He dragged me back home in his beat-up truck and dropped a bomb along the way: Chase Matthews was moving in with us. He was the golden boy of my high school, my former best friend, and the last person I wanted sleeping across the hall. His presence was too great a reminder of the ghosts I was trying to forget.
I didn’t ask for a hero. I don’t want to be saved.
To me, Lilah Calloway meant late nights sneakin’ out, moonlit hair, and sparklers in July. She was my best friend until the day she left and I’d assumed Blackwater had seen the last of her. Then, like a tempest, she rolled back into town for the final half of senior year. The chopped hair and dark devil-may-care attitude warned most people away, but I knew if I fought hard enough, I could find the lost girl.
I didn’t want to be her hero. Some girls don’t need to be saved.
ALP PatriciaReview Owl

Chasing Spring is a thought provoking tale of friendship, love and finding absolution in the wake of heartache and tragedy.

I was frustrated with Lilah for much of the story though I recognize her guarded persona was the result of all she encountered in her young life. She was broody and mischievous and at times behaved like a rebellious teenager. But she was also wise beyond her years and it hurt my heart to think about the childhood she lost. I adored Chase and his unwavering resolve where Lily was concerned. He was patient in his pursuit to restore her faith in him and the friendship they once shared despite his own demons and secrets. Their chemistry was palpable and provided great angst throughout the story.

Grey has woven an intense tale with flawed characters you can’t help but love and secrets that are sure to break your heart. Chasing Spring showcased Grey’s versatile writing style and was slightly reminiscent of With this Heart, the book that started my love affair with this author. This was a good book and I am thrilled to have read an early copy.

Subject: You’re a flippin’ idiot

Good morning my dear, naive friend,

I hope you’re enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.

Why?

Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c’mon Jo, his ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.

He’s the type of guy that only hears the word “no” when it’s followed by “don’t stop.”

Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil…and before you say anything, I don’t care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn’t for sale.

Regretfully yours,
Lily

The Allure of Dean Harper is a full-length standalone romance with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be read separately. Chronologically, The Allure of Julian Lefray happens first.

Five minutes until the interview begins.

Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm.

Four minutes until the interview.

She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend.

Three minutes.

For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around.

Two Minutes.

But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday.

One.

After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss.

“I’m not scared of you,” I said with a confident smile.

“Perhaps we should fix that, Ms. Heart. Close the door.”

I paused just outside of the front doors and took a deep breath, trying to get my bearings. I was twenty minutes early for my interview. My outfit was still wrinkle-free. My pad-folio was filled with extra copies of my resume and reference letters, and I’d rehearsed every possible question that Grayson Cole would ask:

Greatest weakness? My inability to settle for anything less than what I deserve. I’m stubborn and persistent.

The honest answer? My inability to overcome my schoolgirl crush on you even though you’re a self-righteous ass.

I would NOT be giving him the honest answer.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW – Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

tag17What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He’s a professional soccer player, America’s favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley’s already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”

A fun & sexy New Adult Romance (age 17+)

But just before she stepped inside, I heard the same sexy voice that I’d heard the previous night— the voice that said, I’m sexy and I know it.

“Morning ladies.”

Every single girl froze and we turned in unison. Liam Wilder was standing a few feet away wearing workout gear and a friendly smile. Of course his friendly smile could easily be misconstrued for a take-your-panties-off smile, so it’s a wonder we all managed to mutter shocked hellos. I guess he’d pulled up in the parking lot a few minutes after we did. I peered behind him and saw a black Mercedes SUV parked in the spot closest to the field house. A photographer was snapping pictures on the other side of the fence. Jeez, they wake up this early to get pictures of him?

“Oh, hi Liam.” Tara smiled wide.

I shot Becca a gag-me face.

“You guys should probably call me Coach Wilder while we’re at practice,” he admonished. I had to fight to keep from cracking up. The shocked look on Tara’s face was absolutely priceless, but it still wasn’t enough to make me forget the awkwardness of the situation.

I couldn’t look up at him. The last time we’d spoken, I’d literally asked him to show me his tattoos, which we both knew really meant I wanted him to show me his soccer balls. Hah. I’d have to tell Becca that one later. I tugged her and Emily forward without acknowledging Liam and headed for the conference room. Thankfully, Coach Davis was there already and Liam didn’t follow us in.

Patricia’s 4 Star Review

There is something to be said for a story that made me laugh as much as it made me swoon over the hero. This book is full of serious competitors, witty comments, intense chemistry, sarcastic humor and of course some sweet and steamy romance.

Kinsley Bryant has not had the best run with relationships. Her most recent devastation came in the form a friend turned boyfriend who proved that friends can break hearts too. She is resolute in her decision to focus on reaching her goals. A chance encounter with the sexy Liam Wilder at a party the night before her first day of practice just may be the wrecking ball to Kinsley’s resolution.

Liam Wilder is a sexy force to be reckoned with. With a history of being soccer’s sexy bad boy, his agent has guided him towards a more straight and narrow path. He is intense and focused on cleaning up his public appearance when Kinsley Bryant shows up at a party in his house. The attraction is present immediately, but any relationship is off limits because he will be her coach and that would be highly frowned upon in the public eye.

SW 2

While they fight it fiercely in the beginning, it does not take long for desire to win them over. But there are obstacles thrust into their way time and again. These two take quite the journey down drama lane that leaves them with plenty of bruises and heartache along the way. As if broken hearts are not enough to deal with, all this drama could wreak havoc on Kinsley’ goals. They must decide if what they feel for each other is strong enough to withstand whatever may come their way and the wake it will leave in its path.

I don’t often take the time to appreciate the side characters in a story, but Becca was so much more than just a side character. She is the incredibly funny yet naïve teammate to Kinsley. They became best friends almost instantly and I admired their relationship. They worked hard together, they played hard together, and their banter was laugh out loud funny. She was a confidant to Kinsley when she needed it most and I appreciated the ease of their relationship and the loyalty she gave to Kinsley. I think everyone needs a Becca in their life.

SW Teaser

This story was chalked full of laugh out loud funny moments and I had a serious grin on my face for a large part of the book. There was plenty of drama to keep me turning the pages while the angst was relatively mild. Liam Wilder most certainly made me swoon with his intense yet patient ways. He and Kinsley were perfectly suited for one another on so many levels and I loved watching them fall for each other. Where Liam was serious, Kinsley was silly and that created a unique balance to their relationship. I find a similar balance exists in my own relationship, only the roles are reversed.

Overall, this is a light and funny read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Patricia’s 4 STAR Review

Charley makes a living as a model. It’s a job that pays the bills and affords her the opportunity to do what she loves. On the outside she appears to have it made with her life in the high fashion world. But behind the mask, is a girl who carries the grief of tragedy and loss and Jude is making dents in her tough exterior and making it hard to keep up the façade.

Being near him makes me feel vulnerable, like I am playing on empty train tracks, but telling him my true feelings is like leaping off a platform toward an oncoming engine.

BHL Teaser2

Jude is commanding and brilliant behind the camera. He has seen his fair share of hot models and one night stands. Enter Charley Whitlock, the blonde haired blue eyed beauty standing before him in a cream Dior dress. Those blue eyes staring back at him through the lens of his camera may be more than he can withstand.

She’s like a wild horse; I have to slowly coax her away from the isolated life she’s made for herself. I know she’s had it hard; I can see it behind her eyes, but she can’t hide forever, and I want to be the person that saves her. I want her to be mine.

Let me just start out by saying that the angst in this book was STUPENDOUS. It was chew your nails, pull your hair out, I can’t hardly stand it, and I loved every minute of it. The photo shoot set the precedent for an angst filled story. I could visualize the scene while it was unfolding and the sexual tension was off the charts intense.

BHL Promo 1

Watching these two try to resist the pull they had toward one another was frustrating. I wanted so badly for them to give into the urge. And yet, they exercised will power like no other, sort of. A kiss here, an orgasm there…you know harmless flirting. There was a HALLELUJAH moment that was long overdue and I was seriously overjoyed and relieved all at the same time. My poor fingernails took a brutal beating.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. This was a fantastic debut novel and I am excited about all this is yet to come from RS Grey.

ALP Favorites Week GIVEAWAY – With This Heart by R.S. Grey

WTH Paperback

Title: With This Heart

Author: R.S. Grey

Released: March 27, 2014

Genre: Contemporary/NA Romance

Synopsis

If someone had told me a year ago that I was about to fall in love, go on an epic road trip, ride a Triceratops, sing on a bar, and lose my virginity, I would have assumed they were on drugs.

Well, that is, until I met Beckham.

Beck was mostly to blame for my recklessness. Gorgeous, clever, undeniably charming Beck barreled into my life as if it were his mission to make sure I never took living for granted. He showed me that there were no boundaries, rules were for the spineless, and a kiss was supposed to happen when I least expected.

Beck was the plot twist that took me by surprise. Two months before I met him, death was knocking at my door. I’d all but given up my last scrap of hope when suddenly, I was given a second chance at life. This time around, I wasn’t going to let it slip through my fingers.

We set out on a road trip with nothing to lose and no guarantees of tomorrow.

Our road trip was about young, reckless love. The kind of love that burns bright.

The kind of love that no road-map could bring me back from.

Patricia’s 5 STAR Review

This is a story about second chances and choosing to live the kind of life that leaves you with no regrets. It’s about being brave in a scary big world and stepping outside your comfort zone. It’s about first loves, first kisses, and all the other firsts that young love experiences. But above all, it’s about not taking anything for granted.

Love will make you reckless. It can drag out parts of you that common sense and fear usually keep hidden away. Because love is selfless and selfish.

Abby and Beck’s witty banter made the characters fun. While they were attracted to one another, they were drawn to each other for reasons that went beyond the surface.

His default setting was happy. That’s what I loved about Beck. He looked at life like it was a journey, like we were meant to enjoy every step of the way.

Abby was given a second chance at life and simply existing was not enough. She struggled with confidence in her decision making skills because most decisions had been made for her up until this point. She was not ungrateful nor was she resentful. Abby just wanted the chance to be young and reckless. She wanted to live for today and not have regrets.

I’d been given a second chance. A chance to make dreams and see them through. A chance to make mistakes and fight to make them right.

Beck was this incredibly sexy and thoughtful person. He never judged or made Abby feel inadequate for having lived such a sheltered life. He wanted to show her the world so she could experience life to its fullest. I believe they were perfect for each other in every way and I adored how Beck fell for and came to love Abby.

This story touched my heart and I thoroughly enjoyed Abby’s journey. There were several emotional moments but I spent a large amount of the story reading with a smile on my face. From the witty banter to Abby’s naïve ways, I adored these characters. Even now as I write this review, I am still smiling. This is one of my absolute favorite reads of 2014 and I am looking forward to what is next from RS Grey.
