A Rosemary Beach Novel

#1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines returns to Rosemary Beach one last time in this highly-anticipated finale and much beloved series.

Spoiled. Selfish. Rich girl. Villan. Slut.

As the Prada-clad bad girl of Rosemary Beach, Nan Dillon has been called every vile name under the hot summer sun. Some of her reputation is deserved—she’s never had to worry about anything but maintaining her perfect figure and splitting Daddy’s private jet with her brother, Rush.
But Nan is far from happy. Rush has another kid on the way and doesn’t have time to catch up with his sister. Grant, the last guy she truly cared about, chose to be with her half-sister, Harlow, instead of her. And Harlow, who has never gotten over the way Nan treated her when she first moved to town, remains distant.
So when Major asks her out, she jumps at the chance to date the gorgeous charmer. Though she doesn’t know much about the sweet-talking Texan, and though it’s clear he doesn’t want to be exclusive, dating him beats hanging out with vapid socialites or watching Netflix alone at home.
For a while, Nan deals with Major’s playboy ways, but after he burns her one too many times, she takes off for an impromptu wild weekend in Vegas. There, she meets Gannon, a darkly seductive and oh-so-dangerous businessman who knows exactly how to handle her.
With Major asking for a second chance and Gannon haunting her dreams, Nan has to decide who to give her heart to. But what she doesn’t realize is that these players are involved in a much bigger game—and they’re already two moves ahead of her.

I have really enjoyed the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines and am very sad that it has come to an end. I was very excited to have received an ARC of this book. I have been a #NanHater from the very first book and I was curious to see if Abbi could get me to change my mind about her.

Nan has always been the villain in this series and I was really hoping that she would redeem herself. If you have read the series, you know that she has never really felt loved and I was hoping she would finally find her HEA. Nan and Major were a mess from the very beginning and I never really felt a connection between them. He didn’t treat her very well and all she wanted was to feel loved and appreciated. When Gannon entered the story I was really hoping that there would be a deep connection between them but aside from a few dates most of their interaction took place in the bedroom. The best part of this story was seeing Blair and Nan getting along better and watching Nan interact with her nephew Nate. I was happy that Nan finally did end up finding her place in this world. Abbi didn’t turn me into a #NanLover but I am happy that she finally found love and happiness.

I really enjoyed this book even though I didn’t connect with the male main characters. I did love the twists and turns this story took. I was happy with the way Nan’s life turned out and loved seeing the way she interacted with Nate. Even though she comes across as an evil witch most of the time it was nice to see that she really does have a big heart. I can’t wait to see what Abbi is working on next!!

ALP Synopsis1

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next new adult novel in the Rosemary Beach series, in which we meet Mase, a Texas heartthrob first introduced in Take a Chance who comes to Rosemary Beach to stir things up.
I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…
Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…
Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?

I absolutely love Abbi Gline’s Rosemary Beach Series! When I’m Gone is the story of Mase and Reese and Abbi did amazing job with this one. Mase is a sexy cowboy and also the brother to Nan and Harlow. Reese is a housekeeper for the rich people of Rosemary Beach who is trying to escape from her horrible past. I fell in love with Mase in One More Chance and was so excited when I found out that he was getting two books of his own.

Mase is staying in Rosemary at his sister Nan’s house while she is out of town. He never expected to find a beautiful woman cleaning Nan’s house while he was there. He is intrigued by Reese the minute he lays eyes on her when she wakes him up with her horrible singing and the noise of the vacuum cleaner. Mase is the type of guy that wants to help fix everyone’s problems so when he senses that Reese needs help he decides he will do whatever it takes to help her. The more time they spend together the deeper Mase’s feelings get for Reese.  He has never been interested in a relationship with a woman as his job is very grueling. Will Reese be the girl to change his mind and make him see that relationships can be a wonderful thing?

“I’m going to wash it all away. I swear to God, I am, Reese. One day, all you will see or remember is me and what we feel like together. I swear.”

Reese has been through so much in her short life and was so happy when she could finally escape from her abusive stepfather. She moves to Rosemary Beach to start a new life and make some new friends. Reese was a very complex character that needed love and tender care. She had lots of secrets that she kept hidden but she never let them get her down. She never expected a guy like Mase to be so supportive and interested in helping her get past her demons. Will Reese be able to let Mase in and continue a relationship with him or will she run away again because she is afraid to let anyone get close to her because of her past?

“I wondered what that must feel like. To have someone speak to you that way and mean it. To know he wasn’t going to hurt you.”

I loved the connection between Mase and Reese. This book always had me on the edge of my seat and I found myself not being able to turn the pages fast enough. It was wonderful to be able to catch up with the rest of the characters in this series. This book does end in a cliffhanger and I am counting down the days for the release of When I’m Back so I can read the conclusion to Mase and Reese’s story.

Gossip is the ultimate currency in Rosemary Beach, but Bethy and Tripp have managed to keep one big secret to themselves.

Eight years ago, Tripp Newark was dating a rich girl he didn’t like and was on his way to Yale—and a future he didn’t want. The only way he could escape his predictable life would be to give up the money and power that came with his family’s name. And that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the summer, he was going to ride off on his Harley and never look back.
That was before he met Beth Lowry.
It was only supposed to be a summer fling. She was a sixteen-year-old trailer-park girl who served drinks to his friends at Kerrington Country Club. They didn’t run in the same social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one summer, Bethy became his entire world.
But he couldn’t give up on his plan. He needed to leave Rosemary Beach, but he vowed he would come back for her.
Problem was, by the time he came back—years later than promised—it was too late. His cousin, Jace, had already claimed the woman he loved. . . .

Whitney’s Four Star Review

I was a bit nervous about reading You Were Mine coming after Grant’s (swoon!) stories.  I mean really… how do you top Rush, Woods and Grant?  I think fans of the Rosemary beach series will be pleased to continue with Bethy and Tripp’s story.

The reader has known for a while now there was a back story between these two characters but not the details of their previous relationship.  Luckily, this novel goes back and forth between the past (Bethy at 16, Tripp at 18) and the present.  You really can’t tell their story without learning their past.

Changing POV’s also helps keep the book moving quickly and since Bethy’s chapters are a bit sad (not a bad thing), reading Tripp’s POV adds a lot for the tone of the book.  The reader is sucked back in time as the two fall in love and are then torn apart by life’s circumstances.  Although Tripp has never gotten over Bethy, their road back to love is a tough one with a lot of regret and forgiveness on both ends.

Although I did enjoy the book and Abbi’s writing is solid, I was a little bit disappointed that Tripp’s character wasn’t very different from the other guys in the series.  I felt the author really had a chance to make this book a bit different and instead the characters felt much the same as the previous.  Since I loved the other books, that’s not a terrible thing.  I think if you have read the other books in this series and love the characters, you’ll definitely want to keep reading.  All of the other favorites… Rush and Blair, Woods and Della, and Grant and Harlow make an appearance which one of the reasons I love this series as a whole.  Great characters, sexy boys and they’re pretty light reads.  The angst never gets too high but you are left feeling like you read a good book.

While you could technically read this as a stand alone, I recommend starting the series at the beginning with Rush and Blair’s stories as you’ll get a lot more out the books.  Looking forward to seeing what Abbi comes up with next.

Release Week Event-You Were Mine by Abbi Glines

We’re celebrating the release of YOU WERE MINE  by New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Abbi Glines!
TitleYou Were Mine (Rosemary Beach)
Author: Abbi Glines
Publisher: Atria Books (December 2, 2014)

From #1 “New York Times “bestselling author Abbi Glines comes a brand-new Rosemary Beach novel about Tripp Newark and his hidden romantic past with Bethy Lowry.

In the eyes of the wealthy playboys who frequent Kerrington Country Club in Rosemary Beach, Tripp Newark is a hero. Under pressure from his parents to become a lawyer and lead a conservative, upper-class life, Tripp disappeared from town five years ago to travel the world, forfeiting the opportunity to inherit millions. Yet few know what he was really running from…

Bethy Lowry was unraveling long before her boyfriend drowned in a riptide trying to save her after she’d had one too many drinks–again. A trailer park kid working as a cart girl among the wealthy patrons of Kerrington Country Club, Bethy has always been impressionable. But five years ago, before she earned her reputation as a hard-drinking, easy girl, she had spent a single summer with Tripp Newark that changed her life forever…

Present Day…

I sat on my Harley and waited for Bethy to walk out of the clubhouse. Woods had been texting me Bethy’s work schedule every two weeks, and I made sure she made it home from work safely every night. It wasn’t stalking her, exactly. It was just the only way I could remain sane.

Watching over her was all I had. If I got too close, she flipped. The last time I’d tried to talk to her, she’d started screaming. I hadn’t been able to calm her down. I was watching her lose herself slowly. And it was tearing me up.

So I followed her to work everyday, and I followed her home every night. Once she was safely in her apartment, I often sat parked across the road and watched her window until it went dark. She never looked at me, even though I wasn’t hiding the fact I was following her. There was no use in hiding it from her.

The last words she’d actually spoken to me -not screamed at me, because there’d been a lot of that- had been eighteen months ago on the beach when we’d lost Jace. My cousin, my best friend, and the love of Bethy’s life. He’d drowned saving her life when she’d wandered into the ocean drunk and got caught in a riptide. Losing him had taken a part of my soul. He’d been the little brother I never had. He’d been the good Newark heir. He’d been everything I should have been but wasn’t.

And we had loved the same girl. Although he never knew it.

Watching her pull away from life more and more each day was so damn hard. Jace wouldn’t have wanted this. He would have hated it. He loved her more than he loved himself. Seeing her like this would break his heart.

Bethy swung her long dark hair over her shoulder as she stepped out of the clubhouse. The shorts she wore had once been tight and cupped her perfect round bottom. But just like she’d lost the will to live, she’d also lost weight. Too much.

The need to hold her and help her heal was so fucking strong. But she didn’t want me. I hadn’t realized how badly she hated me until I’d returned to Rosemary Beach a little more than two years ago. I’d run like hell eight years ago from a life threatening to suffocate me. My father wanted something for me that I didn’t want, and I hadn’t been able to see my way out.

I had been eighteen years old and scared, because in three short months, one sixteen-year-old girl had become my sole concern in life. Bethy had stolen my heart the summer I met her at Rush’s party. When I’d been ready to throw away the life I’d been planning for the past year in order to be with her, my father had reminded me of just how much control he had over me.

I wouldn’t have been able to keep Bethy if I’d stayed. That wasn’t the life he’d let me have. So I’d run, hoping that when I came back in two years, when she was old enough, I could take her with me. But first, I’d needed to escape.

I watched as Bethy opened the door to her old beat-up Ford Taurus and climbed inside. The stiff way she held herself and the way she kept her focus turned away from me told me she knew I was here. She expected me to be there.

Once she would have broken into the biggest, most beautiful smile in the world and run into my arms. But that was the past. I had broken that. I had broken her, and I hadn’t even known.
