Royally Screwed by Sienna Blake ~ Sarah A’s Review

Prince Grayson.
Heir to the British throne.
Sexiest man I’ve ever laid eyes on.
For some strange reason, he wants me.

I can see the red-hot lust flaring in his eyes when I near. Can feel the thick, long evidence of it when he presses up against me.

And I want him. I want him so bad it hurts.

One week.
No strings.
Just unbridled, wild passion with a future king.

Except he has one condition.

One that has me thinking I might be in over my head…

He won’t give me what I want unless his two bodyguards join in.

Warning: This is a sexy-as-sin, reverse harem romance. Can you handle three huge alpha men focused on her pleasure and taking it all the way?

Now with Bonus Novella: Royally X’mased

It’s Grayson and my first Christmas together alone on our own private island. Or so I think…

When I return from the beach, I find the front door ajar. Waiting for me are three masked men with a dangerous and sexy surprise so fucking hot it’ll melt my bikini right off.

I’m finding myself quite obsessed with these Quick and Dirty novellas from Sienna Blake. This novella wasn’t quite as emotionally riveting as the previous two, but it packed a lot of punch in other ways. I love a good forbidden romance, and the relationship between Sophia and Grayson (and Chase and Nicolai) in Royally Screwed was forbidden to the max.

I have a strange relationship with insta-love, sometimes it works for me, and sometimes it doesn’t. The connection between Sophia and Grayson hovered just on the dividing line for me. There were moments I felt their chemistry intensely and other moments where it felt forced. In those scenes where I could feel it, their connection was all consuming. And most of those moments were when they were alone together. I could understand why Grayson had carried out all previous liaisons with Chase and Nicolai because they felt impersonal to me.

As a forbidden romance, Royally Screwed really worked for me. I loved that Sophia challenged him and he was able to see what his life looked like from a different perspective through her. They had a fascinating back and forth when they were together, and I could feel the genuine care and affection they had. I could have spent a lot longer exploring their love story and them finding their own way through a lifestyle that isn’t always receptive to outsiders and commoners.

As a reverse harem novel – of which I have limited experience – Royally Screwed didn’t work for me. I can appreciate the relationship between one woman and multiple men if there is a deep and abiding love between all of the parties, but there wasn’t that connection in this book, so it fell a little flat for me.

My wishes for this book would mostly be in the ties to the Chase and Nicolai. I never felt the draw there between them and Sophia, so a lot of the scenes involving them felt more gratuitous than anything. Based on the original publication of this in the Royal and Reckless anthology, I wonder if this wasn’t the first of these reverse harem books Ms. Blake wrote, because the other two far outshined this one regarding the connections between all the characters. There were also a handful of editorial issues, typos mostly, that need to be cleaned up. I also would have loved to had seen more of Nicolai’s backstory and hope to find out his mysteries sometime in the future.

Royally Screwed is the third book in Sienna Blake’s Quick and Dirty series. These novellas are all complete standalones, with no character or content crossover. Royally Screwed was previously published as part of the Royal and Reckless anthology and has been re-released with a bonus novelette. Royally Screwed is written in triple first-person perspective, narrated by Sophia, Grayson, and Nicolai.

I used to think I was one of the lucky ones.

But at twenty-six, I’ve left my life in New York behind—my perfect fiancé, my stylish friends, my high-flying marketing career—and moved to Ireland.

Truthfully, my perfect fiancé is now my ex after I walked in on him face-deep in my best friend’s p***y.

And my career? It’s over. Because that cheating ex-fiancé of mine… he owns the company I worked for.

I know. I know. Don’t screw your boss. Trust me, I’m never making that mistake again.

On my way to the remote Irish farm I’m now working on, my car hits a ditch. I’m rescued by the three sexiest men I’ve everseen.

The three Irish O’Callaghan brothers.

Broad shoulders, strong arms, accents that make me wet just to hear them.

I want them. All of them.

I know they all want me.

Plot twist…

Turns out they’re my new bosses.

There’s X, the living weapon with a haunted past. His vicious touch helps release all this anger in me.

NEW RELEASE!! Rock Rebel by Tara Leigh ~ Sarah A’s Review

He’s a rock star with a secret, she’s a pop princess with a painful past – can their forbidden romance survive, or will their lies destroy them both?

I’ve earned my bad reputation.

A few years ago, I was New York City’s hottest classical music prodigy. But I wanted something else, something more. So I chased my real dream, and now… I’m rock royalty. Dax Hughes, lead guitarist of Nothing but Trouble. But to my family and former Juilliard classmates, I’m an outcast. A misfit. A rebel.

They’re not entirely wrong. I don’t give a damn what other people think, and I’m all for breaking the rules… except when it comes to our new opening act, Verity Moore.

Rock gods don’t tour with pop princesses.

It’s not personal. Actually, under that fallen diva reputation, Verity’s incredibly talented. And her fiery redheaded personality is… intriguing. But I’m convinced the skeletons in Verity’s closet are as scandalous as my own, and when we’re not sparring, she has a way of drawing out all those secrets I’m determined to keep hidden.

Yeah. Verity Moore is definitely off-limits . . .

But since when do I give a damn about the rules?

Amazon | B&N | iBooks | Kobo

Rock Rebel is my first foray into the work of Tara Leigh, and I was pleasantly surprised.  I always read new to me authors with a healthy dose of skepticism, I’ve been burned too many times not to.  Tara Leigh showed a lot of promise with this book, and I quite enjoyed the ride she took me on in Dax and Verity’s story.  I especially appreciated the depth and timeliness of the #metoo storyline, and how the social climate we’re living in today played such an instrumental part of Verity’s growth.

Verity’s story was heartbreaking but all too real.  From her mother’s exploitative treatment of her to the things she was forced into while she was far too young to be making those kinds of decisions, her life had never been her own.  Seeing her take the reins and fight for the life and opportunities she wanted made me happy.  When she stood up to the people who’d done her wrong my heart burst for her.  Verity was a marvelous character, and I loved seeing her learn to love and trust herself, as well as take the steps she needed to protect herself and find justice for the things she’d endured in her past.

Dax had an idyllic life when juxtaposed with Verity’s, but in reality, he hadn’t had an easy road either, his struggles just looked a lot different.  He’d spent so much time ignoring the hurts he’d been dealt; I’m not sure he even realized how much they’d affected him.  When he finally pulled his head out of the sand and faced the problems he’d buried, it was almost as if a new Dax had arisen, one who wasn’t so cynical and aloof.

Dax and Verity were great partners.  From their electric physical connection to the way they each saw beneath the façade they’d constructed to show the world, it was easy to see why they needed to be together.  I especially loved the consideration they showed one another and the understanding they each displayed, the kind of understanding that can only come through having lived through similar pain.

I have a few wishes for this book.  First, I needed more clarity on the timeline between Dax and Verity.  By all indications in their interactions a few weeks would pass, but then we would check in on a secondary timeline that is very much established and set in stone and months would have passed.  It was jarring and took away from the experience for me.  Secondly, there were these random chunks of text that felt incongruous with the rest of the writing in the book.  It was as if someone else had written specific passages and they had been copy and pasted into the novel. Lastly, the climax resolution between Dax and Verity felt lacking to me. I would have loved to have seen them work through their problems on page rather than just jumping to everything being okay.

Rock Rebel is the third book in Tara Leigh’s Nothing but Trouble series.  These books are interconnected standalones and can be read independently.  I have not read the first two books in this series but had no trouble understanding what was going on in Rock Rebel.  There were enough innuendos into the relationships in the previous books to make me want to read the books, without giving away too much of their stories.  Rock Rebel is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Verity and Dax.

Tara Leigh is a multi-published author of steamy contemporary romance. A former banker on Wall Street, she graduated from Washington University and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, but she much prefers spending her days with fictional boyfriends than analyzing financial spreadsheets. Tara currently lives in Fairfield County, Connecticut with her husband, children, and fur-baby, Pixie. She is represented by Jessica Alvarez, of Bookends Literary Agency.

NOW AVAILABLE!! Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez ~ Sarah A’s Review

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.

I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike.

Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six.

Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it…

So does heartbreak.

***  AVAILABLE IN KINDLE UNLIMITED  ***

When I heard Across the Horizon was lighter than Aly Martinez’ usual work, I was unsure, part of what I love about her books is how heavy they are. I had no reason to fear, Ms. Martinez did a fabulous job of keeping the mood of the book up while still incorporating some more profound moments.

I loved Tanner when we first met him in The Darkest Sunrise duet and was so happy to watch him find his happily ever after. He and Rita were a mismatch on the surface, but once we got to know them more deeply both alone and as a couple, it was quite evident they were a match made in heaven. Tanner’s patience and charm were a great counterpoint to Rita’s apprehension and sass. They were so well-developed it made it easy to believe in them and want to see them whole and happy.

Across the Horizon was riveting. I couldn’t put it down once I opened it, I was obsessed with Rita and Tanner’s romance. Aly Martinez did a superb job of balancing the humor and banter between her characters with the heartache and healing they had to go through because of their pasts. I loved each moment I spend in these pages and all the heart and soul that made the ride so fascinating and emotionally rewarding.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

All of Me by AL Jackson ~ Sarah A’s Review

People call me callous. Arrogant. Ruthless.

I call myself tenacious.
One of the most powerful attorneys in Charleston, I don’t let anyone or anything stand in my way.
Until a chance encounter changes everything.

One glance.
One touch.
One night.
It only leaves me wanting more.

But Grace is off limits. Most people would even say forbidden.
Everyone knows an attorney can’t sleep with his client.
Too bad I already did.

And even with the threat of losing everything, I don’t know if I can stop myself from having her again…

Occasionally I read other reviews between finishing a book and writing my own review, just to see if what I was feeling in a book was the same as what other people were. I did that with All of Me and noted that several people had an issue with their insta-lust. I suppose it’s something you can only appreciate if you’ve experienced it. Personal aside: I met my husband when I was 16 and he 20 (far too old at that point in my life), after a less than five-minute interaction I compared every other person I dated to him until the day I married him, six years later. Sometimes your heart and soul know better than your rational mind. All of that to say, I loved the fact that their connection was instant and intense.

I loved Ian and Grace’s love. Even before either of them was ready to admit that was what was happening between them, their connection was bigger and more beautiful than anything they were looking for, anything they wanted. They both ran from it, their fear ruling their choices, but neither of them could fight the pull back to the other, and that was what made their relationship so special.

We’d seen a little of Ian’s story in the first book in this series, More of You, and I was so happy we got to finally see his tragic childhood and what had formed him into the man we’d met. His history was dark and the guilt he carried immense. My momma heart broke for him and wanted to wrap that poor boy up and keep him safe. Grace’s story was no less heartwrenching, and I connected with her deep-seated need to protect her babies with every molecule of her being. Together they gathered all their broken pieces and made something magnificent and impenetrable.

My only wish for All of Me is that it be a little less predictable. I could see every twist and turn coming a mile away, and it dampened my reading experience. I know all of the pieces have to be in place to make a story come together, but a lot of the plot points in this book were just too convenient.

All of Me is the second book in AL Jackson’s Confessions of the Heart series. The books in this series are interconnected stand-alones and can easily be read independently of one another. All of Me is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Grace and Ian.

My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .

The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.

A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.

My heart warned me. I didn’t listen. I saw something protective and good beneath the fierce, tough exterior.

I fell hard and fast.

He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.

Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.

Sexier than he’s ever been.

Provocative and commanding.

Successful and powerful.

The man I always knew he would become.

But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.

Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.

Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.
Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .

Wild Collision by Micalea Smeltzer ~ Sarah A’s Review

He was a beautiful nightmare.

Mia Hayes is comfortable with her life as it is.
Boring is good.
Boring is normal.
Boring is safe.
But the thing with boring is it makes temptation all the sweeter.

She was a sweet dream.

Hollis Wilder goes a hundred miles an hour after everything he wants.
Fast is fun.
Fast is crazy.
Fast is dangerous.
But the thing with fast is it keeps you from thinking before you act.

Together they were the notes in their favorite song.

When Mia and Hollis collide—literally—music’s new bad boy can’t help but notice the beautiful red-haired woman with soft curves. She calls to him like a siren, and since the word no isn’t in his vocabulary he’s determined to get what he wants.

The problem is, one night won’t be enough, and the fact that Mia is his mentor’s daughter complicates things royally.

Mia’s the one girl that’s off limits, but she might be the only one he wants for real.

***  AVAILABLE IN KINDLE UNLIMITED  ***

Sweet, swoony, and funny, Wild Collision was a fun read. There were some things that didn’t quite work for me, but I could definitely see the appeal of Mia and Hollis for someone else. I didn’t quite feel their connection as deeply as I hoped, but I could feel that it may have been headed in that direction with a little more time.

Mia and Hollis had great banter; I always feel like the best relationships are rooted in couples who can communicate freely and having a good back and forth is a backbone of that kind of interaction. I loved that they knew what they wanted from one another and pursued it knowing what it could cost them. They both had powerful and intriguing personalities and seeing them figure out how to navigate this new dynamic they had was fascinating.

My wish for this story would just be to see a little more connection and chemistry between Mia and Hollis. There was some written, but it felt a little forced to me. What we did see of their chemistry seemed mostly predicated on the physical aspect of their relationship, and I wish I would have seen more of the emotional side of it.

Wild Collision is the first book in Micalea Smeltzer’s The Wild series. This series is a spinoff of Willow Creek series; I haven’t read that series, but I don’t feel like that took away from the experience of this novel. If anything, it made we want to check those books out to see where this all started. Wild Collision is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Mia and Hollis.

He closes the distance between us swiftly, grabbing my face roughly between his hands. He kisses me quickly, desperately. It’s a bruising kind of kiss. One that leaves a path of flames in its wake.

He lets me go and steps away. “I had to kiss you before I couldn’t for the rest of the evening,” he admits.

I touch my lips where they still tingle from his.

He flashes a cocky smile, pleased with himself for rendering me speechless.

“I know I’m a good kisser, but I didn’t know it was possible to stun you into silence. I’m impressed with myself.”

I snap out of my revelry. “I hope you go home and write about it in your diary.”

“Oh, I will.” He smirks.

“Is it pink and sparkly?”

“Of course—I even hot glued my name in sequins on it and the first page is marked with Future Mr. Mia Hayes.”

NEW RELEASE!! Playing by Heart by JB Salsbury ~ Sarah A’s Review

Jesse Lee is the worst!

He’s a multi-millionaire, triple-platinum-selling, Grammy-Award-winning man-slut—a worldly, self-indulgent heathen. I wouldn’t sleep with him if he were our last chance to ensure survival of the human race. The only reason I put up with him is because he’s my boss’s brother.

Whatsherface is one of those holier-than-thou types.

She’s bossy, has a horrific singing voice, and she’s so ordinary, she practically blends in with the eggshell-colored walls—the complete opposite of anyone I’d bang. The only reason I put up with her is because my career is on the line.

Playing by Heart is an enemies-to-lovers romance where opposites not only attract, they ignite.

Amazon | B&N | iBooksKobo

I was 100% sure, about a quarter of the way into Playing by Heart there was no way I would ever get on board with Jesse as a good guy. JB Salsbury did a marvelous job of sending him on a journey of healing and self-reflection that made me see him in a different light, and eventually, I loved him just as much as I was led to believe I would.

Enemies-to-lovers can sometimes be a hard sell for me. It’s hard to make me love someone who proves himself from the beginning to be a jerk. Add into that the famous rockstar aspect, and it’s even harder for me to find redemption. However, Playing by Heart totally delivered in making me hate Jesiah (Jesse), then make me root for him, and finally make me fall in love with him.

The substance abuse facet of Playing by Heart was a big part of the appeal for me. I loved how JB Salsbury used it as a device to develop Jesse’s character, then make him grow. The fact that Ms. Salsbury kept his recovery and cravings for his substances of choice in the forefront for the entirety of the novel made it all feel more real.

While Jesiah may have been the star of this novel, Bethany also had a great growth arc. She was so timid and self-deprecating when the novel started, I wasn’t sure how she could ever hold her own with such a huge personality as Jesiah. Watching her shed her old skin and learn her worth was heartwarming and, though her healing wasn’t as profound as Jesiah’s, it was just as important.

One of my very favorite parts of Playing by Heart was something Jesiah’s brother, Benjamin, said to him. Often in the world of romance, everything is predicated on the feeling of love, but there is so much more to it than that. Ben told him love isn’t a feeling; it’s a choice. I have told the same thing to my children and husband, so it was an incredibly poignant moment for me.

J.B. Salsbury is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and two kids.

Her love of good storytelling led her to earn a degree in Media Communications. With her journalistic background, writing has always been at the forefront, and her love of romance propelled her career as an author.

She spends the majority of her day behind the computer where a world of battling alphas, budding romance, and impossible obstacles claws away at her subconscious and begs to be released to the page.

The screen illuminated Alec’s face, and even though Keyes wasn’t religious, he swore he heard the angels sing in that moment… The sight stole Keyes’s breath. He came to a stop directly in front of the tempting driver. Resting both hands on his hips, he got lost just looking at this beautiful man. Keyes opened his mouth to speak. He could absolutely take care of this problem, but the words didn’t come. Instead, he stayed mesmerized by the most gorgeous guy he’d ever seen.

“I have roadside assistance. I just have to remember which app to use.”

Keyes almost lost his bad boy composure when Alec distractedly glanced up from his phone and winked at him. Hold it together, Key. He finally got his head to stop spinning and all the cheesy porn music to quit playing on continuous loop in the background. Alec probably just had a twitch. Why would the guy be flirting with him? On the off chance Alec happened to be gay, Keyes obviously wasn’t his type if the passenger were anything to go by. There was nothing refined or delicate about Key.

Even with the neurons misfiring in Keyes’s brain, he managed to clear his throat and lower his gaze to the grass to help find some fucking perspective. “Where you headed?” Wait. That wasn’t the statement he’d planned to make.

“I live in McKinney. He lives in the Uptown area of Dallas,” Alec answered, reading the screen as he cocked his head toward his putout passenger.

“What’re you doin’ out here?” Keyes asked. McKinney was a long way from the current location and as different as two places could possibly be.

Alec gave a humorless laugh while briefly lifting his gaze from the screen. Curious light eyes pinned Keyes in place. He wasn’t sure he’d ever seen eyes that color. Keyes’s mouth watered, and his cock plumped, homing in on exactly what it wanted. “Google Maps said this was a detour. Hang on.” Alec lifted the phone to his ear. Keyes could hear a faint sound of a voice on the other end. “I’m on some side road in maybe South Dallas, perhaps even North Ellis County. Can you find my location?”

“Listen, I can take care of this. I own a tire shop that’s about fifteen minutes from here.” For the first time since the car had spun off the road, Alec truly looked at him. Their gazes connected for one maybe two heartbeats before Alec’s brow wrinkled and his eyes lowered. Keyes felt the weight of Alec’s stare as his eyes blatantly roamed the length of his body. Not only did his dick stand at attention but the damn thing attempted to parade down Main Street waving a rainbow-colored flag. A range of expressions crossed Alec’s handsome face until the hand holding the phone lowered and those extraordinary eyes were back on his. Had the guy noticed the impromptu party taking place in his pants? Keyes shifted his weight to his other foot.

“I’m Alec Pierce.”

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen-year-old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event, I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love, and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

NEW RELEASE!! Outcast by Lexi Blake

On the hunt for a vicious killer, Kelsey discovers that the true threat lies closer than she could have ever imagined.

It’s been months since Trent Wilcox was sentenced to exile, but Kelsey hasn’t given up on finding a way to bring him home. Grayson Sloane doesn’t share her enthusiasm. Loving two men is challenging enough without them being at each other’s throats, and she is unwilling to compromise on the future she knows is meant for them.

Kelsey’s only hope for bringing them all together comes in the form of the Hell lord who insisted on Trent’s exile – Gray’s father. Lord Sloane is willing to acquiesce on Trent’s punishment if Kelsey will do one little job for him. A stray wolf is on a killing spree in Wyoming and he’s killed a number of witches in Lord Sloane’s service. The situation is made all the more complicated by the presence of a sinister werewolf cult in the area. Lupus Solum is known for being cruel to their own kind, and even worse to outsiders.

Caught between a craven wolf cult, a brutal killer, a Hell lord, and a mounting pile of bodies, Kelsey is going to have her work cut out for her. But if she can solve the case, she might have a chance to earn her happily ever after.

“How does that make you feel, Gray?” Felix Day was in full-on shrink mode as we sat in his office, the late afternoon light illuminating the soothing interior.

“It makes me feel like murdering Trent.” Gray was using his calmest tone. Well, his most sarcastic tone, but it was also calm. Mostly. He wasn’t pleased with his current occupation.

“And Trent, how does that make you feel?” Felix asked.

“It makes me feel like I’m wasting my day pass, man.” There was nothing calm about Trent. He was perfectly exasperated. It was obvious the day had not gone according to plan.

But then what had he expected? Probably not thruples therapy.

As for me, I just wanted my guys to get along. It had been a full six months since my wolf guy had killed my demon guy’s brother. Now that sounds worse than it really is, a fact I’ve been trying my damnedest to get Gray—the demon hottie—to see. Gray’s brother had gone by many names on the Earth plane, but Stewart had been his most frequent alias. On the demonic plane, he’d been known as Nemcox and had been totally evil. He’d learned a secret about the king’s son…

I’m moving too fast. Like I said, it’s been a while. I should catch you up. I’m Kelsey Owens. I’m this weird thing that happens when a lone wolf forgets to wear a condom and humps a human lady. I’m what’s known as a Hunter. It basically means that I’m pretty strong and have a lot of werewolf senses, but I can’t actually turn into a wolf, though I do have a demon arm—and that’s another story entirely. I work for the King of all Vampire, who also happens to be the king of the supernatural world. I’m his Nex Apparatus. It’s kind of like a combo sheriff and assassin, with a dash of therapist thrown in. I’m involved with a gorgeous half-demon named Grayson Sloan and an insanely hot alpha wolf named Trent Wilcox. We had a few super-sexy encounters together and then came the aforementioned murder. But I didn’t see why that had to mean the end of our threesome. After all, the king and his wife and partner had gone through a ton worse and still got it on all the time, and in fairly public places.

I might be horny. Super horny. And my bio clock had started ticking. I wanted some baby making, and I couldn’t do that while my men were fighting, hence the therapy.

“You’re here on sufferance, wolf.” Gray was using his super-superior voice, the one he used when he knew a suspect was guilty and he could prove it. In the last few months, he’d gone back to his original job. Gray is a Texas Ranger. Not the baseball-playing kind. He’s a cop of the highest order and he works in the Ranger’s specialized crimes unit. By special they mean weird shit no one else wants to work. Basically he deals with supernatural crimes.

We’re kind of coworkers when you think about it.

It was his other job that worried me. Gray is also a dark prophet. Every now and then his eyes go midnight black and he starts to speak in what I like to call prophet rap. It’s usually a jumble of crap that doesn’t actually make any sense at all until you’re on the other side of it, but it impresses the other demons. Especially Gray’s dad, and he’s the one I worried about.

“I thought I was here to discuss potential parole,” Trent shot back with a shake of his head. “I thought you were willing to talk to me and find a way to work this out.”

Trent used to be the head of the king’s security. He had a great career, benefits, job security. Then he met a girl.

Yeah, I kind of wrecked that for him. Again, hence the therapy.

“This? You refer to the murder of my brother as this? I don’t want to work this out with you,” Gray replied, sitting back. “You misunderstand me, wolf. There is no parole. The king is high if he thinks my father will allow that to happen. The only reason you weren’t killed in the first place was to keep the peace. You will never be allowed your former place. And I have my reasons for helping Kelsey see you on a regular basis. I want Kelsey to fuck you out of her system so we can go back to normal.”

We were far from normal.

“I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Felix said, taking in the three of us with an academic air. “Kelsey is dual natured, as you know. Unlike most were creatures, she’s not fully integrated. I know werewolves like to talk about their ‘wolf’ as being something that lives inside them, but that’s a euphemism. For Kelsey the ‘she-wolf’ part of her soul is separate, and she has different needs from the human portion.”

Not exactly. Honestly, the longer I live and accept the fact that I’ve got this gift, the more the she-wolf and I get along. I totally don’t lose control and try to kill people anymore. She-wolf and I kill people with purpose now, and we’re in total agreement on what we needed and that was sex.

“I’m perfectly willing to take care of all her needs.” Trent got that smirk on his face, the alpha wolf smirk. I shouldn’t find it sexy, but I do. “How about you go and talk to your father about this bullshit punishment and I’ll spend the few hours I have here in bed with our woman.”

I was actually all on board with that plan with the exception of losing Gray. I’d had a taste of symmetrical fucking and I wanted more. Not that I didn’t enjoy my sexy times with each of them, but there’s something about having four hands on my body that does it for me.
