SYNOPSIS

I had the perfect life.

The perfect husband. Colin Cassidy—the incredibly talented, extremely gorgeous, and unbelievably humble star NFL quarterback.

The perfect marriage. Our bond was unbreakable. His support unwavering.

The perfect career. As the recently-appointed executive director for the Boston chapter of Mending Hearts, a child abuse prevention and treatment program, my daily reward was helping to keep vulnerable, innocent children from being preyed upon and destroyed. It’s all I’d wanted to do since I was a teenager.

Perfect city. Perfect car. Perfect house with the perfect view.

From the outside looking in, it was impossible to find a single flaw in my life. I had it all. Everything I’d ever wanted.

But that kind of perfection came at a price. Demanded the ultimate sacrifice.

What happened when I discovered what I’d been missing all along? When I began to question if the lies were worth protecting?

What if suddenly the last thing I wanted was to be perfect?

Excerpt

“Race ya there,” I snicker, darting towards the bedroom I moved our clothes into, tossing his bag into the hall.

Let the games begin.

Somehow, he beats me down to the water – imagine that. With steeled armor, I keep my face stoic, my gait and candor unfazed, as I approach, despite the urge to snicker at his bulged-out eyes and jaw dropped into the ocean.

And yeah, I noticed his hand dip below the surface to adjust himself; doesn’t always shrink in cold water it would seem.

His head jerks left, right, then back to me as his eyes narrow to accusatory slits. “What’re you thinking, Trouble? Public beach,” he sputters.

Doe-eyed innocence, my lips twist cleverly. “Not for two miles either direction it isn’t. Besides, what’s the problem?” Surely it’s not my string-thong bikini bottoms and lack of a top?

If you told anyone, even Lys who’s known me forever, they’d bet on hell freezing over twice before believing I’m capable of such audacious, brazen antics, but I’m embracing it, rejoicing in the Jocelyn he brings out. Alive; seeing clearly, smelling flowers miles away, hearing the faintest of sounds – like I just started partaking in, and enjoying, the world that’s surrounded me my whole life.

His mouth curves upward at the corner, a twinkle in his eyes reflecting off the water as he beckons me to him with the leisurely crook of his finger.

“Moi?” I mouth, pointing to myself. My whole body’s buzzing, sexy satisfaction razoring through me as he slowly nods. “Alright,” I huff in feigned inconvenience.

I walk into the water as he walks out, hoisting me up as we meet, wrapping my legs around his waist for me.

“You’ll be my end, Jocelyn Craig,” he says, almost demurely, almost a frown, heading us backward into the deeper water.

“The ending’s supposed to be the best part.” I smile, leaning in to rest my forehead on his. “Do I win the game?”

He glances down at my breasts – nipples hardened from the cool water, his tongue lazily tracing his bottom lip. “I’m afraid you just might.”

She giggles and kisses my lips softly. “I live here, so I’m not escaping, frowny-face. I need to use the bathroom.” She wrestles out from underneath my hold, stretching her arm to the chair beside the bed. Sitting up on the edge, she slips on a satin robe before standing.

“Why are you covering up that body, babe? I was already hard waiting to watch you go,” I tease…except not at all teasing.
“What?” She glances over her shoulder with a sassy grin. “You don’t like it?” She looks at her silky attire and runs her hands over the robe enticingly. “I’ll have you know, I’ve been told pink is my color.” Her mouth turns down subtly the second the words escape; a faraway sadness ghosting across her eyes for a fleeting second before she quickly dismisses the thought away and fakes a smile.

A surge of nausea consumes me, a shiver elicited with the chill that creeps up my spine, the unfair devil of irony dousing me in frigid shame and guilt.

It’s her—my Jocelyn—was Devon’s…fascination, his ‘I hope she feels the same.’
I just made love to the woman my little brother never even got a chance to ask on a date.

 Whitney’s 4.5 Star Review

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book since the blurb is rather short. But wow, did I get a treat. Not only is Conspire a sweet romance, it’s also got a nice mystery/thriller element to it which will keep you on your toes. This was a great little break from the typical romance novels I’ve been reading.SE Hall and Erin Noelle put together a sexy and interesting storyline, a bit different from anything I’ve read before so kudos to them. The sex scenes are steamy and there are several of them but there is definitely a focus on the plot. The writing is a bit overdone at times with descriptive words but that certainly didn’t detract from my overall experience with this book.

Graham is hot. HOT. But then again, I would expect nothing less from these two authors. He’s sweet, protective and goes after what he wants. I’m not going into his story because I think you should go into this with no expectations. And Jocelyn is a great heroine. She’s spunky and after putting up with a lot of crap her whole life, she finally has the courage to tell her family “NO”!

This is told in a dual POV which I love. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you’re in the mood for a stand alone!

Review & Giveaway – Euphoria by Erin Noelle

SYNOPSIS

After a series of catastrophic misunderstandings and impulsively poor decision-making, Scarlett MacGregor finds herself once again torn between two loves, as different as they may be. Lacking proper closure with their relationship, accompanied by the overwhelming guilt for her role in his devastating downfall, Scarlett resolves to help Mason recover and reclaim his life as a budding rock star. However, now that he has finally claimed her as his, Ash Walker is bound and determined to keep her by his side, and he will go to any lengths necessary to do just that.

Mason Templeton has hit rock bottom. He’s in love with a girl whose heart and soul belong to another and he’s partied his way off of an international music tour that was supposed to be his big break. Returning home for rehab sounds like the worst possible way to start a new year, but when an unexpected friendship emerges, he begins to realize that maybe everything does happen for a reason.

Euphoria is the third and final installment of Scarlett, Ash, and Mason’s self-discovering journeys to happiness and understanding the meaning of true love ~ the kind that begs for complete surrender

Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual content and harsh language.

EXCERPT

Embracing her one last time, I whispered in her ear, “I love you, butterfly… ‘your curves and all your edges, and all your perfect imperfections.’ I’ll see you tomorrow night.” “I love you, too, Ash. ‘You’re my end and my beginning; even when I lose, I’m winning,’” she whispered back. Then she grabbed her bag and headed for the security check point. Right before turning the corner where I couldn’t see her anymore, she looked back at me and blew me a kiss and made hand hearts. Damn, she was beautiful. I stood there for several minutes with a goofy ass grin on my face. I wasn’t expecting her to sing the next lyrics of the song to me, but it filled me with an indescribable feeling of warmth and love. ~Ash

PATRICIA’S REVIEW

This has to be one of the hardest reviews I have ever tried to write.  I finished reading Euphoria 13 days ago and I cannot stop thinking about it.  I am at war with myself over how I feel about the story and how the series ended.  On that note, I am going to play devil’s advocate with myself briefly and hope that I can provide a review that is both well thought out and well written.

Team Ash vs. Team Mason

I make no bones about being Team Ash.  Scarlett was his Psyche, his Butterfly, and I adored the way he loved her.  They shared so much in common and it made their relationship easy, once they finally quit stumbling around the reasons why there were not together.

Mason Templeton was simply no good for Scarlett going into Euphoria, with his budding career and fast lifestyle.  However, Mason loved Scarlett deeply and sometimes love is enough.  After the way Ambrosia ended, I was scared going into Euphoria that Mason was going to steal Scarlett away from Ash.  I hoped like hell against that occurring, but I had my doubts.

Withholding Information vs. Lying

When is withholding information like lying? When you let the other person in a relationship believe you are somewhere when in fact you are somewhere else.  This is wrong on so many levels and I was angry with Scarlett for not being upfront with Ash when it came to visiting Mason.  The secret trips to see Mason irritated me because she had absolutely no consideration for Ash or how he might feel about them.  I know Scarlett lived a sheltered childhood and she was still learning about making decisions for herself, but she did to Ash exactly what had been done to her for years…gave him no say so in the matter.

Mason needed a friend and I cannot fathom what it must have been like for him to have his world turned upside down.  He needed drastic change, and his time in the facility was the best thing that could have happened to him.  He had a counselor to help him work through his issues and he did not have access to a lifestyle to steer him off course in his recovery.  And while Mason and Scarlett had an opportunity to work on being friends, it was no secret he still loved Scarlett and was not quite ready to let go of the notion that she might still chose him.

 ♦POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT♦

While I knew something big was coming based on Ash’s POV in chapter 21, I did not see the ending in chapter 22 coming.  I absolutely threw my kindle (like a foot because I was sitting on the floor) and was initially angry.  The anger quickly morphed into tears and that turned into my first ugly cry of 2014.  I was devastated and heartbroken by that turn of events.  I wanted to be mad as Mason because he invited Scarlett to his show in Vegas.  I also wanted to be mad at Scarlett for going to see Mason’s show.  I found myself going through the what-ifs and what-for’s before I had to remind myself this is Scarlett’s story, a fictional character in a book.

Once I recovered enough to keep reading, I did so, somewhat begrudgingly.  My heart was broken and I wanted it to be a dream…I hoped I was going to read that Scarlett woke up and realized it was just a nightmare.  Needless to say…that never happened. And that brings me to why it has taken me 13 days to complete this review.  I needed time to grieve over my broken heart and accept that even though this story did not go the way I hoped it would go, Scarlett still got her HEA….eventually.

♦FINAL THOUGHTS♦

From the treacherous ending of Ash’s POV in Ch 21 up to the Epilogue felt rushed to me.  I wanted to wallow in my grief a bit longer and that just did not happen.  Instead, we rushed through Scarlett’s grief and recovery/healing period.  And then there is Chapter 25, where I cried all over again.  I cried for the loss and for the bitter sweet redemption of a certain musician who somehow managed to find his way into my heart, after all.

There were some beautiful moments and some WTF moments for me, personally.  Not much angst with this book and this made me happy because Scarlett made her choice in Ambrosia.  There were some tense moments and most definitely some very sad moments.  Overall, I was pleased to see Mason find the help he needed.  While I would have loved to have more of Scarlett post The Right Step, I realize that may have resulted in another book, and I am grateful to Erin Noelle for not doing that to me.  The Epilogue provided me with some much needed closure for this series, but I will forever be left with the heartache and the what-ifs.

I was provided a copy in exchange for an honest review.
