ALP Synopsis1

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

November 9 is a captivating tale of love, loss, and the resiliency of the soul. In typical Hoover fashion, the story is unique with characters that will latch onto your heart and a story packed with drama that will take you on quite the emotional journey. With each book, I am blown away by Hoover’s clever storytelling. Her talent for capturing my heart and putting it through the wringer is unsurpassed and November 9, once again, validates why Colleen Hoover sits at the top of my favorite author list.

I adored Ben and Fallon. Their banter was entertaining, their chemistry was exciting and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them mature over the course of the story. My heart hurt for all they endured in their respective lives but there were several times I wanted to reach into the pages and shake some sense into both of them too. These characters have certainly left an impression on my heart.

It’s not enough to say I loved the story. As with all of Hoover’s books, I experienced the story. From the witty banter, to the secrets, and the emotional exchanges, there was never a dull or lagging moment. Though I would have loved a little more of the details for the years between meetings, the concept was brilliant, the execution was outstanding, and I applaud Hoover on an exceptional story.

From the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of Where Sea Meets Sky comes a new adult novel about a young woman who becomes a nanny in Capri and falls for her charges’ bad-boy brother.

When I’m traveling, I feel like the secret to my life, to myself, to really becoming, is one step ahead. It’s in the next destination, the next town I get lost in, the next stranger I talk to. It’s always next but never here . . .

After six months of backpacking and soul-searching across the world, Amber MacLean is flat broke. There are worse places for a twentysomething to be stuck than the Amalfi Coast, but the only way she can earn enough money for a plane ticket home to California is to teach English to two of the brattiest children she has ever met.

It doesn’t help that the children are under the care of their brooding older brother, ex-motorcycle racer Desiderio Larosa. Darkly handsome and oh-so-mysterious, the young master of the crumbling villa tests Amber’s patience and will at every turn—not to mention her hormones.

When her position turns into a full-time nanny gig, Amber grows dangerously closer to the enigmatic recluse. But can she give up the certainty of home for someone whose closely guarded heart feels a world apart from her own?

Racing the Sun is a heartwarming tale that will capture your heart with its poignant love story and captivate your senses with its stunning scenery. Karina Halle provides the ultimate escape from reality with eloquently described scenes and charming characters you can’t help but love.

I enjoyed Amber and Derio immensely. They were likeable characters with vulnerabilities that gave them depth. Amber was carefree and adventurous while Derio was isolated and hardened by the circumstances of his life. Their chemistry was undeniable and the passion was overwhelming when they finally succumbed to the magnetism.

Racing the Sun spoke to my heart and I was completely enthralled with this story. Though heartbreaking at times, I was utterly content in the end. I have added Capri to my bucket list of places to visit before I die and I have Karina to thank for that addition. The experience was unforgettable and Racing the Sun has been added to my list of favorite reads of 2015.
