Blog Tour and Review-Chasing You by Kelly Elliott

I chased, you pushed

I chased, you friend zoned

I chased, you fell

Now I chase to protect you.

You chased, I resisted

You chased, I accepted

You chased, I fell

Now I pray you’re not too late.

After finally winning the heart of the woman I loved, there was no way in hell he was taking her from me.

“How was the omelet?”

Meagan’s head snapped up as she glared at me. I placed my hand on the back of the chair and stood there while her eyes quickly did a once over. I didn’t normally work on Saturdays, but I’d been working all night with Derrick on a case. I knew with the weather being unseasonably warm, Meagan would be here this morning, so I decided to end this silent treatment of hers once and for all.

She swallowed hard and then straightened her shoulders as she narrowed her eyes at me. “How did you know I was here?”

I pulled the chair out and sat down as I loosened my tie. Meagan’s eyes flickered for one moment as I pictured her dirty little mind going into a fantasy.

“I’m a detective, Meg. It’s my job to know things.”

She let out a curt laugh and rolled her eyes. “I’d hope you were tracking down the bad people and not what I’ve had for breakfast.” Her mouth dropped open and she tapped her finger on the side of her mouth. “Oh wait. You’re sleeping with one of them, so …”

Her voice cut off as she looked away. What in the fuck did that mean?

“Excuse me?” I asked as I leaned closer to her.

“Never mind.”

Kam walked up and set a black coffee down in front of me along with a piece of banana nut bread. “There ya go, Gray.” Turning to Meagan, she smiled. “Do you need anything else, sweetie?”

Meagan flashed her that beautiful smile of hers and shook her head. “Oh wait! The check please. I’m being chased away.”

“Put it on my tab, Kam,” I said as I continued to watch Meagan.

She flashed me a dirty look and gathered up her things. I knew from following her, she normally sat here for a few hours and read as she people-watched. She’d leave Kam a more than generous tip for taking up a table all morning, and then she headed to her office.

“I can buy my own breakfast.”

With a nod, I said, “I know that.”

Meagan grunted as she stood. Her next stop would be her office. She worked for a non-profit organization called Helping Hands. Meagan worked as a counselor to middle and high school kids dealing with issues like bullying. I’d never seen anyone so passionate about their job. From the little I gathered from Grace, Meagan had a hell of a time in college dealing with bullying of her own.

“Why don’t you spend the day with me, Meg?”

With raised eyebrows, she smirked. “What’s wrong, Claire busy today so you’re going for your backup?”

My body jerked as if someone had slapped me. “I’m sorry for taking that call. I didn’t know it was her.”

Something passed over Meagan’s face. “It doesn’t matter. It’s over and done with.”

I stood and reached for her arm. “Spend the day with me … as friends.”

Meagan lifted her eyebrow. “Friends?”

“What are you playing at, Gray?”

With a puzzled look, I flashed her the smile I knew she loved. Her breath would hitch every time.

Meagan sucked in a breath as she quickly licked her lips. Bingo.

“Why do you think I’m up to something? You think all I care about is fucking you; I want to show you that’s not true. I want to show you how much I enjoy just hanging out with you.”

Meagan glanced around, worried someone had heard what I said. Turning her head back to me, she narrowed her eyes.

“What did you have in mind?”

I absolutely love everything that Kelly Elliott writes. Chasing You is the 5th book in Kelly’s Love Wanted In Texas series. This book tells the friends to lovers story of Meagan and Grayson. Kelly has a way of pulling you in from the very beginning and not letting go until the very end.

Meagan first meets Grayson at a club where he works as a stripper when she is Colorado with her girlfriends. She runs into him again months later and realizes that he is cousin to her friend Noah. These two have a strong attraction to one another and quickly become friends with benefits. They both love the easy relationship that they share.

Meagan is a victim of bullying all through college and can’t wait to get away from the girl that made her life a living hell. She moves to Colorado to work as a social worker to help kids that are victims of bullying. Grayson worked as a stripper to pay for his college and to help take care of his mom. He is now one of the youngest and best detectives in Colorado. Grayson wants more than a friends with benefits relationship with Meagan but she is afraid that Grayson will find someone better than her and leave her. Will these two ever be able to make a relationship work? Will Meagan be able to let go of her fear of abandonment? What will happen when someone from Meagan’s past comes back and tries to ruin her life again?

“Glancing between the soup and the beautiful girl sitting on my couch, I felt my chest tighten. I wasn’t falling in love with her, I was already in love with her.”

“Are you ready to fall?”
“Will you catch me, Gray?”

I loved the deep connection between Meagan and Grayson. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I loved the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. I loved all the unexpected twists and turns this story took. It was so fun catching up with the rest of the gang from this series. I can’t wait to see what Kelly is working on next!!

He Will Be My Ruin - RWB teaser 1

The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths and Burying Water series makes her suspense debut with this sexy, heartpounding story of a young woman determined to find justice after her best friend’s death, a story pulsing with the “intense, hot, emotional” (Colleen Hoover) writing that exhilarates her legions of fans.

A woman who almost had it all . . .

On the surface, Celine Gonzalez had everything a twenty-eight-year-old woman could want: a one-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, a job that (mostly) paid the bills, and an acceptance letter to the prestigious Hollingsworth Institute of Art, where she would finally live out her dream of becoming an antiques appraiser for a major auction house. All she had worked so hard to achieve was finally within her reach. So why would she kill herself?

A man who was supposed to be her salvation . . .

Maggie Sparkes arrives in New York City to pack up what’s left of her best friend’s belongings after a suicide that has left everyone stunned. The police have deemed the evidence conclusive: Celine got into bed, downed a lethal cocktail of pills and vodka, and never woke up. But when Maggie discovers a scandalous photograph in a lock box hidden in Celine’s apartment, she begins asking questions. Questions about the man Celine fell in love with. The man she never told anyone about, not even Maggie. The man Celine believed would change her life.

Until he became her ruin.

On the hunt for evidence that will force the police to reopen the case, Maggie uncovers more than she bargained for about Celine’s private life—and inadvertently puts herself on the radar of a killer. A killer who will stop at nothing to keep his crimes undiscovered.

Edging along the side of her bed—I actually have to turn and shimmy to fit—I move toward a stack of vintage wooden food crates that serve as a nightstand. A wave of nostalgia washes over me as my finger traces the heavy latches and handmade, chunky gunmetal-gray body of the antique box sitting next to the lamp. The day that I spied it in an antique store while shopping for Celine’s sixteenth birthday, it made me think of a medieval castle. The old man who sold it to me said it was actually an eighteenth-century lockbox.

Whatever it was, I knew Celine would love it.

I carry it over to the living room, where I can sit and open it up. Inside are sentimental scraps of Celine’s life. Concert stubs and random papers, a dried rose, her grandmother’s rosary that Rosa gave to her. Rosa is supremely religious, and Celine, the ever-devoted daughter, kept up appearances for her mother, though she admitted to me that she didn’t find value in it.

I pull each item out, laying them on the trunk coffee table until I’m left with nothing but the smooth velvet floor of the box. I fumble with a small detail on the outside that acts as a lever—remembering my surprise when the man revealed the box’s secret—until a click sounds, allowing me to pry open the false bottom.

Celine’s shy, secretive eyes lit up when I first showed her the sizeable compartment. It was perfect for hiding treasures, like notes from boys, and the silver bracelet that her senior-year boyfriend bought her for Valentine’s Day and she was afraid to wear in front of Rosa. While I love Rosa dearly, she could be suffocating sometimes.

My fingers wrap around the wad of money filling the small space as a deep frown creases my forehead. Mostly hundreds but plenty of fifties, too. I quickly count it. There’s almost ten thousand dollars here.

Why wouldn’t Celine deposit this into her bank account?

I pick up the ornate bronze key and a creased sheet of paper that also sits within. I’m guessing the key is for the desk. I’ll test that out in a minute. I gingerly unfold the paper that’s obviously been handled many times, judging by the crinkles in it.

My eyes widen.

A naked man fills one side. He’s entrancingly handsome, with long lashes and golden-blond tousled hair and a shadow of peach scruff covering his hard jawline. He’s lying on his back, one muscular arm disappearing into the pillow beneath his head, a white sheet tangled around his legs, not quite covering the goods, which from what I can see, are fairly impressive. I can’t tell what color his eyes are because he’s fast asleep.

“Well then . . .” I frown, taken aback.

I’m not surprised that Celine could attract the attention of a guy like this. She was a gorgeous young woman—her Mexican roots earning her lush locks, full lips, and voluptuous curves tied to the kind of tiny waist that all men seem to admire.

Nor am I surprised that he’s blond. It has always been a running joke between us, her penchant for blonds. She’s never dated anything but.

But I am surprised that she’d have the nerve to take—and print out to keep by her bed—a scandalous picture like this in the first place.

I wonder if she ever mentioned him to me. She always told me about her dates, utter failures or otherwise. Though it’s been years since she was seeing anyone seriously, and she was definitely seeing this guy seriously if she was sleeping with him. Celine usually waited months before she gave that up to a guy. She didn’t even lose her virginity until she was twenty-two, to a guy she had been dating for six months and hoped that she would one day marry. Who broke up with her shortly afterward.

So who the hell is this guy and why didn’t I ever hear about him? And where is he now? When were they together last?

Does he know that she’s dead?

Worrying my bottom lip between my teeth—it’s a bad habit of mine—I slowly fold the paper back up. Celine’s cursive scrawl decorates the back side in purple ink. Words I hadn’t noticed before.

Words that make my heart stop now.

This man was once my salvation. Now he will be my ruin.

I love everything that K.A Tucker writes. I was so excited when I received an early copy to review. He Will Be My Ruin is a standalone novel with lots of mystery and suspense.

Maggie and Celine have been friends for many years even though they come from two different worlds. When Maggie finds out about Celine’s passing she puts her work on hold to fly to New York to take care of Celine’s estate. While she is there going through her friends stuff she starts to question what really happened to her best friend. Some of the things she finds in Celine’s belongings don’t add up so Maggie decides to do some investigating. She tries talking to the policeman that was at the scene but he isn’t any help but her does give her the name of a P.I. that offers to help Maggie for the right amount of money. Maggie starts to question everything she has learned about the people in Celine’s life and is regretting some of the things she has done along the way just to get the answers she so desperately wants. Celine had two men in her life that seemed like really good guys but the more time Maggie spends with them the more their true colors shine through. Will she ever figure out what really happened to her friend?

I loved Maggie’s character in this book. She was very determined to do right by her friend and was willing to do whatever it took to find out the truth. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I loved the twists and turns this story took and found myself not able to turn the pages fast enough. I can’t wait to see what K.A. is working on next!!

Is it too much to believe that someone keeps returning to your life because it’s meant to be?

Zane Carson is an idealistic young man with one big skeleton in his closet when he first meets Jennifer Manders in college. They date only to break up soon after. The sexual attraction is like an electromagnet but they fight like alley cats. The relationship just isn’t worth it.

Zane’s band Fully Automatic breaks big about the same time Jennifer finishes college. One summer afternoon, they meet for coffee and sparks fly once more. It’s off again, on again, but they just can’t make it work and break it off for good, deciding it’s not worth the effort.

But Zane is drawn to her and, during a break in the music action, he tracks her down again, willing to change himself for her and needing to give her one last try. The attraction is as strong as ever, but now Jennifer is hiding something from Zane—something big, something that threatens to extinguish the spark for good. When Zane discovers her secret, will he be able to forgive her or will that be the end?

“Oh, Zane, this place is amazing. Why haven’t I ever heard of it before?”

“I can tell you exactly why. Three reasons.” She raised her eyebrows as he raised his index finger. “One, it’s almost downtown, and I know you avoid downtown like the plague. If I recall, you said something about rather losing a limb than walk the Sixteenth Street Mall again.”

“I said that?”

“Well…maybe that was a little drastic.”

“Yeah, probably.” He lifted the bottle of Dos Equis and then said, “Two, it’s a little hole in the wall. It doesn’t advertise like some of the bigger restaurants—no billboards, no newspaper ads, shit like that.”

Jennifer nodded. “Okay, yeah. And what’s number three?”

Zane leaned over the table and whispered. “It’s kind of a dive.” Jennifer couldn’t help but giggle. “But in a good way.”

She laughed out loud at that. “Yeah, definitely.” She picked up a chip and dipped it in the warm queso next to Zane’s bottle. “The food is amazing so far.”

“Just wait.”

The waiter came by with a pitcher. “More water, señorita?”

“Please.” After the waiter was back on his way, she said to Zane, “I love it. I love the people and I even love that stupid TV in the corner.”

Zane glanced over. “Yeah, well…”

“No, seriously. They don’t have the sound on, but it somehow makes it feel like home in here, you know? Lights and movement, but the sounds are coming from the kitchen and some weird soundtrack.”

Zane breathed through his nose, putting on a look of mock horror and said, “What if it’s our soundtrack?”

“What do you mean?”

“What if this is our movie? A movie about our lives…and that’s the soundtrack?”

“Three things.”

Zane grinned. “What?”

“One…if this is our movie, it’s pretty damn boring. No car chases, no sex scenes, no snappy dialogue—”

“Says who? My dialogue’s plenty snappy.”

“Two, the soundtrack sucks.”

“Well, don’t be telling them that.”

“And…I don’t have a three. I guess just two.”

A smirk covered Zane’s face. “And we can take care of the sex scene later.”

ALP SarahLReview Owl

I absolutely love the Bullet series by Jade C. Jamison. Locked and Loaded is the 6th and final book of this series. This book tells the story of Zane, the bassist for Fully Automatic.

Zane and Jennifer met in college and had an on and off relationship. They had deep feelings for each other but always ended up fighting so they eventually broke things off when Zane quit college to tour with the band. Zane had a rough childhood and is now an addict and his demons have taken over. He sleeps with lots of women and takes whatever drugs he can get ahold of to drown out the pain of his past. He eventually hits rock bottom and put himself into rehab. When he gets out he decides to try get in contact with Jennifer. Will he be able to convince her to give him another shot at a relationship or will she have already moved on with her life?

Jennifer has always loved Zane and she struggled when they broke things off and he quit college to go tour with the band. She moved on with her life and tried dating other guys but none of them were like Zane. She is surprised to hear from Zane after having no contact with him for 2 years. She agrees to go on a date with him and just when she thinks he has changed he ends up screwing things up. He promises her it won’t happen again but Jennifer doesn’t believe him so she gives him an ultimatum-go to rehab and get clean or stay out of her life. Zane struggles with believing that he will ever be able to overcome his demons. He finds a good therapist through his best friend Ethan and after time he learns how to fight the many addictions that he struggles with. Will Jennifer be happy with his progress and let Zane back into her life or will she have a hard time trusting that he is trying to better himself?

I loved the deep connection between Zane and Jennifer. It was fun catching up with the rest of the band members and their families. I do feel like the story was a little rushed and would have liked to see more depth to the storyline. I am very sad that this is the end of the Bullet series as I absolutely love these characters and will always wonder what they are up to.

“AND she’s back! Who might you ask? Well of course I am talking about the hard rocking Queen herself…Jade Jamison and her fascinating, complex Fully Automatic cast of characters and in particular Zane, the quietly messed up bass player who lives his life on the edge and crosses the line one too many times before he falls from the cliff….

A lot of twists and a few surprises (some more expected than others) make this sixth book in the Bullet series a wonderful comeback for Jamison…after all the zombies, girl rockers and girl reporters of her other projects, I was very happy she went back to the series I first fell in love with and did an amazing job. Highly recommend if you have read and loved all the boys in Fully Automatic.” ~ Sue Banner, top Amazon reviewer

“When I finished this book my heart was so sad. Sad not at the book but sad that this was it. This was the end of the line for the Bullet guys. This was the end of a series that I have grown to love and looked forward to reading for years…” ~ Angie J, Twinsie Talk Book Blog,

ALP SarahLReview Owl

I absolutely loved Just One Moment by Stacey Lynn. Just One Moment is the fourth book in Stacey’s Just One series and tells the story of Lynx and Sarah whom we first meet in Just One Regret. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Just One Regret first to get a better understanding of the characters and their relationship.

Lynx and Sarah first hooked up in Vegas and it was supposed to be a one-night thing as neither of them are interested in a relationship. When Sarah gets back home she can’t stop thinking about the time she spent with Lynx. She is surprised to hear from him and isn’t quite sure what to think about him wanting to hook up again. I absolutely love everything that Michelle Valentine writes. She creates some of the most swoon worthy characters. Xavier Cold picks up where Phenomenal X leaves off so if you haven’t read that one I recommend doing that first.

Xavier finds himself being taken out of the ring in handcuffs after he beats his opponent unconscious when he loses control. His boss bails him out and is able to get the charges against him dropped but unfortunately for Xavier he ends up being suspended for 3 months and has to stay away from all wrestling related events. This will be difficult for him as Anna is expected to continue working with Rex and Xavier doesn’t trust him at all. Before Anna has to report back to work her and X head back to Denver to spend a few days together. They will be staying at X’s childhood home which stirs up lots of bad memories for Xavier. Xavier goes to a dark place after he starts seeing more people from his past. He feels like Anna deserves so much more than he can give her so when she leaves to go back to work he starts ignoring her calls and texts in hopes that she will find someone better for herself. Will Xavier’s friends be able to pull him out the dark place he has went to or will he fall back into his old ways and lose Anna for good?

“I’m not good enough for her, and it was selfish of me ever to believe that I could keep someone as loyal and loving as her to myself…I am evil…The only way I can make sure she’s safe is to keep her as far away from me as possible.”

Anna is not happy about leaving Xavier behind in Denver but she knows she has to go back to work to be able to pay the bills. She is put in some very uncomfortable situations but she pushes herself through them because she knows Xavier will be back before she knows it. She finds out some very exciting news and tries to call Xavier to tell him about it and she gets very upset when he doesn’t answer any of her texts or calls. She starts to feel like he doesn’t want her anymore and isn’t sure what do to. She knows that he loves her but if he isn’t willing to open up and be honest with her she isn’t sure she can continue a relationship with him. Will Anna be able to help Xavier fight past his demons and prove to him that true love really does exist? Will these two be able to make a relationship work or will their pasts keep pushing them apart?

“So many times in my life I’ve been tossed away, like I meant nothing. People don’t stick with me, which is what makes me cherish Anna even more.”

I loved the deep connection between Anna and Xavier. I loved all the twists and turns this story took. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I really enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster this story took me on. I can’t wait to see what Michelle is working on next!!

Blog Tour/Review/Giveaway-The Best Goodbye by Abbi Glines

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next sizzling novel in the Rosemary Beach series, featuring well-known playboy and Blaire’s half brother, Captain.

“The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was . . “

After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.

Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh…something strange about the way she looks at Captain…

ALP SarahLReview Owl

I absolutely love the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines. The Best Goodbye is the 13th book in the series and focuses on Blaire’s half brother Captain. We have read about him in a few other books but never really got many details about him. He is a very quiet and mysterious character and I was excited to finally read his story.

This book is told in dual POV with some chapters going back to the past between the two main characters. Rose is currently working for Captain at his restaraunt in Rosemary Beach. There is a reason she is there but I won’t spoil it for you by going into any details. Captain is drawn to Rose and he doesn’t understand why. She stirs up memories from his past and it makes him uncomfortable at first but then he sees something in her that changes everything about his life. What is Rose hiding from Captain? What is she doing in Rosemary Beach?

“You can’t tell your heart to stop loving someone. I’d been trying that for years, simply to ease the ache of losing him.”

I really enjoyed all the angst and drama that this book had. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. It was nice to catch up with a few of the characters from previous books in the series. I feel like the ending was a little rushed and which was a little disappointing for me because I would have loved a look further into the future of Rose and Captain. I hope we will see more of these two in future books.

The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.

Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.

When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.

Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.

That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

It’s just a regular ringtone. For me, though, it’s the wail of a war siren, and I’m immediately alert. There is only one person who has this number, and I didn’t expect him to use it again so soon.

The tile is cool against my bare feet as I roll out of bed. I collect the phone from the nightstand with one fluid movement, unhindered by sheets or the morning sluggishness that an average person might face. Stepping through the propped-open patio doors and onto the balcony, I answer with a low, curt “Yeah.” The sky is just beginning to lighten over the quiet bay. Dozens of boats sit moored below, their passengers lulled into deep sleep by the ocean air and rhythmic waves. I’m high enough up that I’m not likely to offend anyone with my lack of clothing, especially at this hour. Not that I’m truly concerned by it.

The code name is a sharp contrast to the warm breeze skating across my bare skin. My adrenaline begins to spike, all the same. Hearing it means that I will be forced to leave this haven soon. Sooner than I had hoped.

“How is recovery going?”

I instinctively peer down at the angry red scar on the outside of my thigh, where a bullet drilled into my flesh and muscle just three weeks ago, outside of Kabul. I nearly bled out before I made it to the doc. He patched me up on a makeshift operating table, buried deep in a maze of rooms, and charged me a hefty price.

“Like new,” I lie.

“Good.” Bentley’s voice is rich and smooth, a welcome sound in a sea of strangers. “Where are you now?”

I peer out over the beautiful vista of crystal blue water and whitewashed stone buildings, the volcanic rock cliffs in the distance, reluctant to divulge my location. I sank a good chunk of my last payout on renting this one-bedroom villa for the month. It’s my private sanctuary, where I can revel in anonymity and peace for a while, before finding somewhere else to drift to.

Bentley has never asked before.

But he also has the technical capabilities to trace this call. If he really wants to find out, then he will. In fact, the second I picked up, he probably already had his answer. “Where do I need to be?” I say instead.

“San Francisco.”

I absolutely loved Surviving Ice by K.A. Tucker. This is the fourth book in her Burying Water series but can be read as a standalone. K.A. Tucker has an amazing way with words and each book she writes gets better and better.

Ivy Lee has been moving from place to place for the past few years and has decided to finally settled down for awhile in California and work at her uncle’s tattoo shop. One night her life changes forever when she is witness to the murder of her uncle and one of his clients. She really wants to get out of town as quickly as possible but she first must deal with the tattoo shop and her uncle’s home. One day a mysteriously good looking guy comes in wanting a tattoo and Ivy has no idea that he is going to throw another curve ball into her life and change everything. Will he change it for the better or will he make things worse for her?

“Everything has changed for me, and it’s all because of him.”

Sebastian Ryker was a Navy Seal and now works in security for a company called Alliance. He is sent on an assignment to investigate Ivy and find a video tape that his boss believes is filled with infomation that could put his company out of business. Sebastian is completely suprised by his feelings for Ivy when he first meets her as he has no interest in a relationship or settling down. Will spending time with Ivy have him changing his mind or will he continue his care free lifestyle?

“I wanted to fill her with me. I wanted to mark her, in a way.”

I loved the connection betweeen Ivy and Sebastian. They were such an unlikely pair but found comfort in each other. They were both very closed off individuals but found it easy to open up to one another. I loved all the twists and turns this story took and found myself unable to put it down at times. I am sad this series is over but am super excited to see what K.A. is working on next!!

Triple Play

Drew Jackson seemed to have it all. He has a family who loves and supports him, a tight circle of friends, and is a rising star with the Milwaukee Mavericks. Then, it all begins to unravel. Cam, the only man he’s ever loved, falls head over heels for Drew’s teammate. He makes a critical mistake in the playoffs that he’s not sure he’ll be able to recover from. And then, his world really crashes around him…

Eric Sapp may no longer play for the Mavericks, but he’s still one of the guys. No one could have imagined how much his life would change when he agreed to help his former teammates mourn the end of their run for the pennant. After stopping a brutal attack, Eric is forced to face the feelings that’ve been growing for his roommate, Drew. That’d be much easier if Drew wasn’t hell-bent on pushing everyone away as he recovers.

Neither of them were counting on Bryce Shaw. He and Drew enjoyed the one night they spent together, but knew it was unlikely they’d be anything more since they lived in different parts of the country. After Bryce is relocated to help a failing LGBT homeless outreach, he wants to explore something more with the Mavericks’ short stop.

As much as Eric wishes he could be the one to help his friend, he knows Bryce holds the key to Drew’s recovery. Will pushing the two back together be the biggest mistake of his life or will they all learn there is strength in numbers?

Triple Play is the third book in Sloan Johnson’s Home Run series. I felt bad for Drew in Curve Ball when his best friend that he was in love didn’t share the same feelings and fell in love with someone else. I was so excited to finally get to read Drew’s story in hopes that he would find his own HEA. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series as well.

Drew is attacked in an alley one night on his way to the bar to have a few drinks with friends. Lucky for him his friend and teammate Eric comes to his rescue and scares off the attacker. All the time these two spend together after Drew is released from the hospital brings them closer together. Eric has deep feelings for Drew but isn’t sure what to think when Drew’s friend Bryce comes into the picture. The more time Bryce hangs around the closer the three of them become but the connection leaves Drew feeling very confused because he doesn’t think he can have a relationship with two men at the same time. Will Drew be able to pick between Eric and Bryce or will these three learn how to make a relationship work for all of them?

I loved the connection between Drew, Eric and Bryce. I loved catching up with all the guys from the other books. I loved their dedication to their jobs and how supportive they are of each other. I do wish we would have learned more about Bryce’s background in this story and I do feel that the ending was rushed a little bit but overall I really enjoyed this book!

About Sloan Johnson

Sloan Johnson

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

Review Tour-Finding You by Kelly Elliott

Release Day: Sept 8, 2015

If Grace Johnson knew one thing at all, it was that all men were dirtbags.

All men … except Noah Bennet.

“I was lost in his eyes. Lost in his tears. My goal was to pull him out of the darkness … even if it dragged me in as well.”

If Noah Bennet knew one thing at all, it was he needed Grace Johnson.

Needed her … desperately.

“My pain was pulling me under … she was my only saving grace.”

Grace is willing to put everything on the line to help bring back the man she is hopelessly in love with. Even if it costs her the future she’s been longing for.

“If finding you means losing a part of me … I’ll do it.”

Jeff and I rode along for a few minutes in silence. I could hear the river in the distance and I knew we were getting closer.

Jeff walked his horse up to a tree and jumped off. Following his lead, I did the same.

“Don’t worry about them. They’ll just graze on the grass. Follow me; I want to show you something, Noah.”

Doing as he asked, I draped the reins over the horses shoulder and followed Jeff toward the water. There was a giant rock that was set back about fifteen feet from the water. Jeff walked over to it and jumped up on it. It was large enough for at least four men to stand up there.

Figuring he wanted me to follow, I climbed up and stood next to him. The view was amazing.

“Wow,” I whispered as I watched the river meander along its path.

“When I was about your age, I lost my mother, but not like how you lost your mother. Actually, I lost my mother a number of years before that.”

Turning to look at him, I asked, “How did you lose her?”

Jeff continued to look out over the water as it rushed over rocks. “Alcohol. My father left my mother when my sister, Ellie, and I were young. My mother couldn’t handle it and turned to drinking to hide the pain. The problem was, no amount of drinking … or drugs … could numb the pain.”

My head snapped over to Jeff as our eyes met. “No sir, it cannot. I turned to alcohol when my mother’s cancer came back. Spent a number of nights drowning my sorrow in it.”

Not taking his eyes off of me, Jeff asked, “And what made you stop?”

“Grace. Even though we weren’t together at the time, I knew she would have been disappointed in me.”

Letting a small smile play across his lips, Jeff nodded and looked back over the river. “Love will do that. Save you from the deepest depths of sorrow and pain.”

I absolutely loved Finding You by Kelly Elliott. This is the 4th book in her Love Wanted in Texas series and tells the story of Grace and Noah. It is so much fun reading about the children of the original Wanted gang. This book can be read as a standalone but in order to get a better undertanding of the characters and storyline I highly recommend reading this series in order.

Grace Johnson fell in love with Noah Bennet the very first time she met him. She was absolutely devastated when he left college without a word. She has tried to move on but all her feelings for him come rushing back the minute she sees him at the hospital. She leaves without talking to him and is quite surprised when he shows up at her doorstep. Will she let him explain why he had to leave college and why he never tried contacting her or will she walk away from him again?

Noah Bennet has never forgotten about Grace Johnson and is shocked when he sees he at the hospital. He really wants to be able to spend some time with her and explain why he never tried contacting her after he left college. Noah has so much going on in his life and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get Grace to be a part of his life again. Will he be able to convince her that he is here to stay this time?

“I was lost in his eyes. Lost in his tears. My goal was to pull him out of the darkness … even if it dragged me in as well.”

I loved the deep connection between Grace and Noah. I was so happy that they stood by each others side even when things got tough. It is so fun catching up with the other characters from this series and the original Wanted gang. I am so excited for Meagan’s book now that we got a glimpse af the mystery man in her life!

Release Day Blitz/Review/Giveaway-On the Run(Vagabonds Book #1) by Jade C. Jamison

Vagabonds-On the Run

What if your dream became a nightmare?

Kyle Summers enjoys a carefree childhood traveling the countryside with her parents…until she discovers the electric guitar. When she first wraps her hand around its neck, she knows she was born to play it.

When she discovers boys, she realizes she has a second passion.

But music always comes first, and when Kyle is recruited to be part of a young all-girl band, she jumps at her chance for fame and fortune. It isn’t long before Kyle discovers that all that glitters isn’t gold. Will she survive when she discovers the dark and seedy side of the music industry—or will it ruin her for good?

~ ~ ~

Vagabonds follows one young woman’s rise to fame past the pitfalls of sex, drugs, and easy money, through fortune and success to heartbreak and betrayal. Five girls build their band The Vagabonds from nothing but a hunger to create and quickly find that they are nothing but pawns in a larger game played by managers, agents, the press, the music industry, and all manner of unscrupulous, greedy people who want to feed on their triumphs. Friendships and lives hang in the balance. Who will survive?

It was dark and quiet and I realized I had this man alone…all by himself and just for me.  “Peter said something about trying to have our two bands do a show or two together near the end of our tour.”

My words came out fine but they didn’t sound right to my ears.  “That would be cool.”  My mind was other places.

His words didn’t sound right either because I think his thoughts were in the same place mine were.  “Nice nose piercing by the way.”

Maybe it was unnecessary because his face was already closer to mine, but I pulled the neck of his t-shirt into the ball of my fist and said, “Would you shut up and kiss me already?”  I pulled him the rest of the way to my face but he was moving too.  Still, like a fucking tease, he paused with his lips just centimeters away and his eyes scanned mine.  He laced the fingers of his right hand through my hair, almost as if to anchor me, and I closed my eyes.  I could feel the heat of his lips before they actually touched mine, and when they did, I felt my entire body tense up and my soul began to sing.  My mouth opened to take him in and his tongue traced my upper one, teasing once more, making my body tense up again.  My core felt like it was vibrating and catching on fire while my insides were turning into a puddle.  I could feel my heart begin to thud in my chest as though it were going to explode, and I touched his tongue with mine.  Holy shit, he tasted delicious, and I knew right then that I could do this all day.  But then we stopped and I sucked in a breath, and it was hard to reach the bottom of my lungs.  I forced myself to relax my hand and splayed my palm against the shirt on his chest.  It was then that I noticed my panties were wet.

He opened his eyes, a tiny smile turning up the corners of his lips.  “That what you had in mind?”

Still hard to breathe.  “Yeah.”  And speak.  My mind was officially blown.

I enjoyed On The Run by Jade C. Jamison. This is the first book in her new rock star series featuring an all girls band that call themselves the Vagabonds. It is told from Kyle’s POV. I will say that I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books I have read by Jade. I had a hard time getting into the book but did enjoy it once I got further into the story.

This story starts out with Kyle traveling with her hippie parents and her being homeschooled. They finally decide to settle down and she starts going to public school and finally makes a few friends. She enters a talent show and does a performance with her guitar and everyone loves it. A guy named Decker starts to show interest in her and they start to develop a relationship. One day she gets a call from an unknown number and she igonores it every time it calls her for a few weeks. She finally answers the call and it is someone that is very interested in her guitar playing abilities. Kyle is asked to play in an all girl band but the guy setting it up is a jerk so she isn’t sure she wants to join. She also doesn’t want to lose Decker and the relationship she has built with him. Will Kyle give up everything to follow her dreams or will she be happy with the life she has finally built?

The story started off very slow but pucked up about halfway through. I enjoyed all of the secondary characters and felt they added more depth to the storyline. I am excited to read the next bbok in this series to find out where these girls end up.

about the author

Jade bio pic

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today—sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales—but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life.  While she doesn’t confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.
