NEW RELEASE!! Eighty-One Nights by Georgia Cates ~ Sarah A’s Review

Beautiful, penniless American girl meets handsome, wealthy Scotsman.

Sounds like the beginning of a fairy-tale romance?

It’s not.

This story begins with a contract.

And an exchange of money.

A lot of money.

An angel perches nervously on one shoulder.

A devil lounges smugly on my other.

And even that dark little bastard is leery of what I’m doing.

Maxwell Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience.

All of it.

And I’m going to give it to him.

I’m not supposed to enjoy being his whore.

I’m also not supposed to fall in love with him.

But I do. Both.

When our contract expires, I will walk away.

Because I have to.

But he’ll always have a piece of me.

I’ll mask my sorrow with a smile.

I’ll hide my love with indifference

… all while it’s killing me softly.

A fairy-tale romance.

It isn’t mine to have.

And this man I’ve come to love so dearly isn’t my happily ever after.

About Eighty-One Nights:
While the characters from Eighty-One Nights are entirely new, their storyline is a combination of fresh material and carefully selected themes, scenes, and settings from The Beauty Series, The Sin Trilogy, Dear Agony, and Indulge. This is intentional. I chose some of my favorite elements from previous releases and interjected them into Hutch and Lou’s story. Let’s call it a “story fusion” between our old favorites and new material. This work was briefly released under a pen name and was titled The Girlfriend Experience.

When I first read the blurb for Eighty-One Nights, I was both intrigued and scared of the union of some of my favorite stories into one cohesive storyline.  I wasn’t sure how Georgia Cates could marry all of those complex and intense plotlines into a coherent story.  I was blown away by the ease with which Ms. Cates delivered a story that was sexy and heartbreaking. Original, yet fascinating familiar, Eighty-One Nights is a captivating and beautiful story of unexpected love.

I found Caitriona (Lou) fascinating from the off, but she didn’t hold a candle to the intrigue Maxwell (Hutch) brought to the story.  They both had less-than-stellar pasts but were still able to make a strong, fulfilling connection that seemed to be healing the broken parts of themselves.  I have a fascination (obsession, maybe) with these kinds of arranged relationships and found Lou and Hutch’s particularly interesting since their chemistry seemed so intense from the off.  Their journey from a paid ‘girlfriend experience’ contractual agreement to the intensity and authenticity of emotions they shared at the end was beautiful, and I loved every second of it.

I was a little surprised at the things going on outside of their relationship.  The people who were waiting in the wings trying to take pieces of Lou and Hutch for themselves, and the lengths they’d go through to ensure Lou and Hutch do not find the happiness they each deserved.  I can’t wait to see what Ms. Cates has in store for us concerning those people, and how they impact the beautiful future Lou and Hutch deserve.

I’m hard-pressed to pick a favorite Georgia Cates book, so getting to have this fun trip down memory lane by virtue of Eighty-One Nights was quite a treat.  I’ve especially noticed parallels between this book, The Beauty series, and Dear Agony, but memories are tickling at the back of my mind from the Sin series, too.  I can’t wait to see how the familiar themes from the stories I already love are woven together in a fresh, exciting way to complete this duet.

“No one gets to call you a whore.”

“You can.”

He stops eating and looks at me. “I’d never degrade you by calling you a whore.”

“Not a whore. Your whore. There’s a difference.”

I can almost see the wheels turning in Hutch’s head. “You’re my whore?”

“Yes. Only yours.”

“My whore.” He grins. “I don’t think that I’m supposed to like that, but I do.”

“And I don’t think I’m supposed to like being your whore, but I do. Very much.”

He reaches out for my hand and brings it to his mouth, kissing it. “You never cease to amaze me.”

“Dirty talk. Never underestimate the power of it.”

Brady watches the server’s arse as she walks away. “Tell me what kind of lass that you’re looking for and maybe I can help you find her.”

“I don’t have any particular physical characteristics in mind. I just want to look at her and… feel something.”

“Feel what? A stauner?” Brady can be such a dobber sometimes.

“I can get a hard-on by myself. I’m talking about a connection. I want to be drawn to her.”

“Answer this for me, Max. Do you want to hold her hand or fuck her?”

“I’d like to do both actually.”

Brady twists in his chair. “There are two kinds of Inamorata women—those who fuck and those who don’t. Look around. Some of the women have a pink rosebud pinned to their left shoulder. It’s a symbol meaning that they are willing to fuck and don’t mind being asked to do so. No pink rosebud, no pussy.”

I hadn’t considered that possibility. I guess that I thought they’d all be willing to have sex for money.

“You might want to keep an eye out for a rosebud while you’re looking for this lass that you want to connect with. Because your cock won’t be making any kind of connection with her if she’s not wearing a rosebud.”

I believe that my choices were just narrowed down significantly; many of these women are missing a rosebud.

“Two Tomatins,” the server says as she places our drinks on the table. “Can I bring you anything else?”

“That’s all for now. Thank you.”

Brady holds up his glass. “Here’s to you finally getting out again. And getting shagged.”

“I’ll drink to that.”

We toss back our whiskies and I look around, searching for that special woman who catches my eye. I quickly realize that I’ll never find what I’m looking for by sitting in the dark corner all night. “Come on, let’s do this.”

Brady and I talk to many women over the next two hours and I become discouraged. This gala is my only chance at finding a woman who will be agreeable to my terms, but no one stands out as a contender.

With each passing minute, tonight’s search is looking more and more like a failure. What a fucking disappointment. I was so sure that I was going to find what I was looking for.

“Now here is the woman that you must meet.” Brady takes her hand, kissing the top.

“You’re looking lovely as always.”

The woman looks at me and smiles. “Always such a charmer.”

“Max, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Cora, the beauty and brains behind Inamorata.”

Long blond hair. Brown eyes. Flawless teeth and smile. Perfect cosmetics. She looks midforties, but I’d bet that she’s older and does a great job of pulling off the look of a much younger woman.

“This is my best mate, Maxwell Hutcheson.”

She holds out her hand and I choose to go with a simple handshake, leaving off the kiss. “It’s a pleasure.”

“How very nice it is to meet you, Mr. Hutcheson. I hope that you’re finding everything to your liking this evening.”

“I’m enjoying the gala very much. Thank you for extending an invitation for me through Brady.”

“It was my pleasure, but your arm is empty, Mr. Hutcheson. Have you not found an inamorata to suit your taste?”

I should choose my words wisely; I don’t want to insult this woman. “Brady and I have spoken to many beautiful and interesting women tonight. I’ve found it difficult to choose one.”

“I’d like the opportunity to change that. Would you be willing to tell me what you’re interested in? I’m certain that I can assist you in finding the perfect inamorata for your needs.”

I don’t see the point. Not a single woman in this room stands out to me but if she wants to try, then let her. “I’m looking for a three-month arrangement with a woman who is willing to remain completely innominate to everyone within my world except me.”

“Obscurity is my specialty, Mr. Hutcheson. I have someone in mind, but she’s fresh out of training. Is that something that you’d be open to trying?”

“Actually, inexperienced is preferable.” I want a true girlfriend experience with this woman. It would be a turnoff if her actions were robotic, as though she’s simply going through the motions like so many times before.

“I have the perfect inamorata for you. She’s brand new so you’d be her first client. The girl is beautiful, intelligent, interesting—the whole package. How does that sound to you?”

Sounds like a definite contender if she lives up to what Cora promises. “I’d like to meet her.”

Cora gestures to the back of the room. “Right this way.”

Apart, we’re in hell. Together, we’re in heaven.
Apart, we’re broken. Together, we’re whole.

I won’t give up on us.

Amazon | B&N | iBooksKobo

I feel like I’ve been waiting for FOR-EV-ER for Lorna and Leith’s happy ending. Their relationship or lack thereof has been peppered throughout the previous novels in this series, and every time we got a glimpse of how much pain they were both in while they were apart my heart bled for them. There was never any doubt in my mind they belonged together, and I am so happy to have finally been witness to their happily ever after.

Lorna and Leith had already experienced more than their share of heartache and devastation in this series, so I was happy we got to see them try to work their issues out right from the beginning. They already had so much to overcome, regarding the ghosts of their pasts, they didn’t need another obstacle to overcome to start their love affair anew.

Of course, this is a book set in the world of the mafia, so it isn’t without a little suspense and violence, but even that helped to bring Lorna and Leith to a place of complete understanding and forgiveness, and it helped to solidify what they always knew about one another. I loved how Georgia Cates highlighted both characters’ strengths through each hardship they encountered and how Leith and Lorna learned to appreciate one another on a deeper level than ever before.

Redemption is the sixth and final book in Georgia Cates’ Sin series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I feel like to truly understand the depth and impact of their relationship over the years it should be read after the other books. (Plus, they’re fantastic, so it’s well worth it.) Redemption is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Leith and Lorna.

ADORED by Georgia Cates

My name is Judd Mathews and I have it all: money, good looks, success. Fans buy my music and scream my name. My life is a charmed one… until my world is turned onto its head by a girl. Scarlett Mathews.

A baby girl.

My newborn daughter.

Her mother is gone, and she has no one in this world but me. This delicate little girl couldn’t have been born to a more unsuitable father… until Leighton Mitchell opens my eyes and makes me see things differently.

Leighton is not my typical kind of woman. She does not get drunk on whiskey or chase country music stars for a chance at a one-night stand on a tour bus. She’s nurturing, wholesome, respectable… and easily the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. She loves my daughter. Adores her. And that makes it very easy to see that she belongs in Scarlett’s life. And mine.

Amazon US | Goodreads

GAH! I want so much more of this book!  Adored was phenomenal, particularly when you consider it’s a novella and all of those feelings it provoked were done in such a short time.  Judd and Leighton were wonderful, and baby Scarlett made my heart burst with love and affection.

Adored is a novella set in Kelly Elliot’s Wanted (Kindle) world.  It absolutely stands on its own; you do not need to have read the other books in the world to understand this one.  I’m sure having that knowledge would have given a little insight into some of the characters mentioned in the book, but not having that knowledge didn’t take anything away from the experience to me, as the whole book revolved around Leighton, Judd, and Scarlett.

While this book was short, it packed an emotional punch.  From the first page, when Ms. Cates shattered my mommy heart with her description of poor sick baby Scarlett in the NICU to the final pages full of hope and love, every word in the entire book was carefully chosen and arranged to elicit deep and powerful emotions from the reader.

I loved Judd, I loved Leighton, I loved Scarlett, I just loved this entire novella.  Leighton’s past destroyed my heart, she’d been through so much and carried on with such grace I admired her strength.  I felt like there was so much more of Judd under the surface that we weren’t able to explore, because of the brevity of the book, that I’m sure would have made his desire and care for Leighton – and Scarlett – even more poignant.

My only wish for this book is that it was longer, at least a full-length novel.  I loved the brief time we spent with Leighton, Judd, and Scarlett and wish we’d been able to have more of them.  I’m not saying the story wasn’t complete because it was, I just wish we could have had more story.  I want more of these characters!

Georgia Cates knows how to construct a story for maximum emotional impact.  Her writing always leaves me reeling – in the best way.  I continually return to her books because I know she’ll deliver a wonderful romance while still putting my heart through the proverbial wringer.

PORTER—
Frankee Dawson is no longer that girl I once called Kiddo. She’s grown into a beautiful, sexy, desirable woman. Very desirable. And that’s a problem. She’s my employee’s daughter. Lovibond family. And too young for me. Too innocent.

This was supposed to be a hot summer fling. Sex and fun without commitment. That’s what we called it. But we were wrong. This is more.

There are a million reasons for her to leave me. And trust me, she should. But all I really need is one good reason for her to stay.

TAP ~ 4 stars
I regret waiting so long to start this series.  I judged a book by its cover (and cover copy) and assumed this series was too light-hearted for me.  I was sorely mistaken.  Tap dealt with some incredibly difficult things and handled them well.  I really enjoyed Lawrence (Wren) & Lucas (Brou)’s story.

Wren and Brou’s story (kind of) falls into the brother’s best friend trope.  I love me a good brother’s best friend book, so this totally hit the mark there.  Add to that the, erm, interesting way Brou actually began communicating with Wren, and I was hooked.  I loved their yin & yang dynamic, and the chemistry they shared was immediately evident.

Lucas’ past took me by surprise.  He had seemed so strong, so self-assured, so whole, when I found out what he’d been through my heart broke for him.  The fact that he carried on in the way he did was a statement to the strength of character he possessed.  I was equally impressed with Wren and how she had overcome the horrors of her past and how she then demonstrated how far she had come from that little girl when she knew her worth and wouldn’t settle for anything less than she deserved.

I’m not a beer girl, but I could appreciate how big of a role it played in this book.  It was evident Ms. Cates did her research as far as brewing and tasting beer.  I loved how she used that aspect of the world she built to bring her characters closer to one another.  There were constantly little snippets concerning the beers that demonstrated the connection the characters had.  It was a fun and unique way to show how closely Brou paid attention to all the things that Wren loved.

Georgia Cates did an excellent job of telling Brou and Wren’s story.  She touched on some very tragic situations without ever crossing the line into making the story depressing; the moments of levity she added saw to that.  I particularly loved how she handled the epilogue.  Too many times they’re all sunshine and roses, but even in those final pages of the book Ms. Cates added a layer of tragedy and reality, while still giving her readers a satisfying ending

STOUT ~ 4.5 stars
I can not believe I waited SO long to read these books!  I thought Tap was going to be my hands down favorite book in this series, but Stout easily surpassed it.  Both Adelyn and Oliver far exceeded every preconceived notion I had about them.  I quickly fell in love with both of them and was sorely disappointed each and every time I had to put this book down to tend to my everyday life.

The books in this series can be read as stand-alones, as they each focus on a different couple, but I would highly suggest reading Tap before starting Stout, as it gives precious insight into Oliver’s past.  His past is essential to who he is as a person and not explored as fully in this book as it was in his sister’s, likely because she was older when it all happened, and she would remember more of the horrors they had experienced.

Adelyn and Oliver’s connection was immediate and intense.  I loved that they understood one another in a way no one else did; I hated the reasons why they experienced that type of understanding, but it made their relationship unique and unimpeachable.  From the beginning, they put their trust and faith in each other and allowed them to see the darkest most secret parts of their soul.  It was that connection, that aspect of their relationship that I so greatly enjoyed.

One of my favorite aspects of Stout was how wholly it focused on their relationship.  Even when there were horrific outside forces working against Adelyn and Oliver, they focused on their trust and affection for one another.  Stout was far from all sunshine and roses, like any real relationship, and it was this focus on how they worked through the rougher parts of life that spoke to me.  I loved the care they took with one another when they came across things that could have easily destroyed a relationship not built on the type of relationship theirs was.

The only thing I could wish for this book is that there was more.  In no way am I saying this story is lacking – it wasn’t – it was wonderful and developed and left no loose ends.  I am just so enamored by Adelyn and Oliver’s story I would have loved to have been able to spend even more time with them.

Georgia Cates’ Lovibond series is excellent, thus far.  I have loved both books I’ve read and can not wait to open up Porter to get my final taste of the Lovibond world.  I also appreciate how different she has made each book, while still making the world feel the same.  Each hero and heroine has been completely unique, and all of them have been wonderfully compelling.  I’ve loved each book I’ve read by Georgia, but these Lovibond books may be my favorites.

PORTER ~ 4 stars
I have loved this series, and I’m sad to be finished with it.  Each man of Lovibond was interesting and, while similar in their overt manliness, unique.  Porter, while dealing with dealing with its own complicated situations, was a little lighter than the previous two books in the series.  It was a little more taboo – without crossing any hard lines – than the previous two books in the series, but it still had a fresh, sweet quality to it.

The timeline in Porter crosses over that of Stout.  We FINALLY get to learn about the mystery woman Porter was sneaking around with, as well as why he was so secretive about that relationship.  Again, these books are all stand-alones, and this has the fewest references to the previous books in the series, but I would HIGHLY suggest reading the other two books in the series, so you have a good feel of the world and the characters within it.

Porter is an office romance, it also has a significant age difference but nothing untoward.  The inner-office quality, along with the fact that Frankee’s dad also worked for Lovibond made for an interesting dynamic between Frankee and Porter.  Add to that the fact they began their relationship as a summer fling, as Frankee was moving at the end of twelve weeks, and you get a lot of exactly what you’d expect from a summer fling.  Porter was a lot steamier than its predecessors, and it was easiest to gauge the change in Frankee and Porter’s relationship by the feel of these scenes as their tone gradually changed from fun and flirty to something far more serious.

Frankee was a fascinating character, she seemed much older than her years, and I enjoyed how easily she fit into Porter’s life and his family.  She was so fantastic at supporting him and guiding him through stressful situations, and she was incredibly understanding of things that happened in Porter’s life before she became a part of it.

While Porter didn’t quite have the heavy themes the first two books did, it wasn’t light on drama or tension.  The conflict that arose was something I did not anticipate.  I was sure I knew what was coming to build to the peak of this story, but I was sorely mistaken.  The point of conflict for Porter and Frankee was intense and maddening and could have easily ripped even the most stable of couples apart.  I appreciated the way they both dealt with what happened and how they were sure to allow one another to deal with things in the way they needed.

My wish for this book would be that some of the secondary plot lines be a little more fleshed out.  There was a particular thread about Frankee’s father that never came to resolution; while it didn’t affect the overall tone of the book, I would have loved to have known how it wrapped up.  I also would have loved to have seen a little more resolution to the major conflict in the book.  Although it was completely wrapped up, as far as Frankee and Porter were concerned, I would have appreciated seeing the final fallout with the other person involved.

Georgia Cates constructed a lovely world in her Lovibond series.   I loved the men, the women, the families, and the employees we were able to get to know.  While all of the stories are complete, and major storylines wrapped up, I would love to get to revisit these characters again in the future.  They were a joy to get to know and watch find their happy endings.  It’s a true sign of how great a book or series is when it’s never enough and that is exactly how I feel about this series.

Georgia resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.

When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her music and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.

Unintended by Georgia Cates ~ Release Boost

Captor becomes lover…

I’m a marksman. Mobster. Deadly assassin.
My job is to protect my brotherhood, but that isn’t my only responsibility.

I’m Kieran Hendry, the up-and-coming leader of The Order, and a new duty calls. I must take a wife.

A wife I don’t know.
A wife born into a position at the top of The Fellowship hierarchy.
A wife who will forge a strong alliance between her brotherhood and mine.
A wife I don’t want.

I knew next to nothing about Westlyn Breckenridge when I abducted her, but I quickly discover that she’s intelligent, strong, defiant, selfless. And beautiful.

One night with her is all it takes for me to see that she is no typical Mafia princess. I’m hopeful this arranged marriage won’t be the miserable union I imagined it to be. But convincing my intended to give us a chance won’t be easy when she sees me as the enemy. The brute who kidnapped her. The vile fiend who threatened to do as he wished with her body.

It’s true. I am all those things. I had cruel intentions. But everything has changed. My affection for her is unexpected. My love, unintended.

Kieran Hendry makes me feel like a woman. A desired woman. His words, the way he looks at me, his body language. Everything he does is a huge turn-on. Yet I hate this man. Loathe him. But damn, he has a way of touching me that makes me forget every logical thought in my head. It doesn’t make sense to me how I can despise him and at the same time respond so strongly to his touch.

It’s my body reacting to him, not my head. It must be hormones and sex drive. Those two things combined have the power to make people do things they wouldn’t normally do.

“You’re trembling.” He grazes the back of his fingers down my cheek and my stomach does some kind of flip. “Do I frighten you?”

I look away because I can’t tell him that it isn’t fear giving me the trembles.

He grasps my chin and forces me to look at him. “Do. I. Frighten. You?”

“No.”

He rubs my bottom lip with his thumb. “Then what is it?”

I shake my head.

He leans in for another kiss but stops before his lips touch mine. We’re so close I can feel his breath on my mouth. Just like last night when my body turned to mush.

I’m quivering and my breath has become more rapid. I may even be a little lightheaded.

His bottom lip grazes mine, but he still doesn’t kiss me. “I’ll back off right now if it’s what you want.”

I don’t want him to back off. I also don’t want him to know that I don’t want him to back off. Feels too much like giving in to something I’m not supposed to crave.

“I’m going to kiss you.”

I’m his captive. We made an agreement. I must submit without a fight per our deal to maintain Ellison’s safety.

Yeah. Keep telling yourself that, Wes. Maybe if you say it enough, you’ll start to believe it

His fingers lace through my hair and he holds me prisoner when he lowers his mouth to mine. I open, giving his tongue an invitation to come inside. The two meet, and together they become erotic dance partners with Kieran taking the lead.

I’ve only had one very forgettable kiss in my life. But this kiss… I could live a million years and never forget it or the way I feel right now.

He stops, his lips hovering over mine. His breath warm against my skin. “More or stop? Your decision.”

He’s asking me to venture further with him. My body says yes, but my head tells me that one more step will take me to a place I shouldn’t go with this man. I’m twenty-three and being kissed for the second time in my life. I don’t want this to stop. “More.”

I devoured the entire Sin series in three days.  I fell in love with the world, with the people, with the danger.  It’s a superb series, and I enjoyed every second I spent reading it.  Unintended is the fifth book in the series and can be read as a standalone, should you choose.  I highly suggest reading the entire series, however, as it will give you a better understanding of the world in which Westlyn and Kieran reside.

After reading Endurance and the first couple of chapters of Unintended, I was pretty sure Kieran would NEVER be able to win me over.  I was deeply mistaken.  The man was kind and caring and everything that Westlyn needed.  Kieran portrayed a hard exterior, but it was quickly apparent it was a persona he’d explicitly honed for dealing with situations that were outside of his own wants needs.  Underneath all that badassery, he was a loving, considerate person and it was that side of him had won both Westlyn and me over.

Westlyn surprised me in this book.  I had a precise idea of who she was, based on how the other people in her life saw her, but she was so much more than I expected.  She wasn’t the demure wallflower I had assumed.  She was strong, fiercely loyal, and fearless.  The girl rivaled some of the strongest female characters I’ve read, and I admired her for knowing her worth and never letting anyone give her any less than she deserved.  I found myself constantly in awe of how wonderful a person Westlyn was when she had such horrendous people for parents.

The circumstances under which Kieran and Westlyn started their relationship were far less than ideal, but I felt like the acute situation they found themselves in was paramount for them figuring out what they both wanted and, frankly, needed in their lives.  Watching what had happened between Westlyn and Kieran through other people eyes in Endurance was far different than what they were actually experiencing.  It was a very tricky thing Georgia Cates did in giving us that perspective of them before we knew anything that was truly going on with them.  I appreciated the misdirection and how it served to demonstrate that things are rarely what they appear to be from the outside.

The only wish I have for Unintended is that there would have been more.  There was a time lapse of a few months near the end of the book that I would have loved to have seen on page.  I feel like seeing how both Kieran and Westlyn recovered during that time would have been incredibly special.

Georgia Cates has crafted a fascinating and dynamic world in the Sin series.  I love the intricacies of Scottish mafia she has developed and how each brotherhood has its own traditions and practices.  There are several characters we’ve met already that I hope to hear more from; Leith and Lorna are at the top of that list, of course, but I’d also like to see Mitch and Shaw’s story, and I’m highly intrigued by the leaf Thane and Isobel seem to have turned in their relationship.  I’m sure I could continue reading new books in this series for a long time to come.

Kieran Hendry makes me feel like a woman. A desired woman. His words, the way he looks at me, his body language. Everything he does is a huge turn-on. Yet I hate this man. Loathe him.
