When the sun disappeared, the world was cast in shadows, hiding the evil that lay in wait. When it was dark, I hunted. The shadows caressed my body as I did things I could never do in the light of day.
Eighteen-year-old Bree Bowen has spent her entire life training and working as one of her father’s assassins. Fear has kept her and her best friend, Wes, under her father’s thumb—until now.
When Wes takes matters into his own hands, securing Bree a new identity and a plane ticket to America, he gives her the one chance she’s been desperately seeking.
Learning to live a new life isn’t easy. Add in her new roommate, Reid, who just happens to be a stripper, and things start to get a little crazy. Falling for a man has never been part of her plan, but she can’t seem to stay away from Reid.
When Bree’s past comes crashing back into her life, secrets that she’s fought to keep hidden are revealed, and she’s forced to choose between Reid and the life she could have with him, or Wes, the one man who has always loved her unconditionally.
Regardless of her choice, she must learn the consequences of sin.
This book will be a standalone.
I absolutely love everything that K.A. Robinson writes. The Consequences of Sin was much more intense and captivating than her other books. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I loved all the twist and turns the story took.
Bree Bowen has been trained to be an assassin her entire life along with her best friend Wesley. Bree hates killing people and dreams of someday being able to get away from her life. Bree’s dad is very high up in the mafia and he is very controlling. When Wesley finds out that Bree’s father is sending her to live with the Irish mafia as part of an alliance he decides to help her get away. He buys her a ticket and sends her to America to hide from her father. She ends up in Dallas where she meets Reid when she answers an ad for a someone looking for a roommate. She tries to keep her distance but finds herself very attracted to Reid. They decide to pursue a relationship but what happens when Bree’s past catches up with her? Will she be able to protect Reid or will the consequences of her sins get in the way of the new life she longs for?
“Then, go now. Run while you can. I can still save you, but if he takes you, there’s nothing I can do. This is your one chance at freedom. You can forget everything and start fresh. You can let your past go and have an actual life.”
Reid allows Bree to move in because he can’t afford rent on his own. He warns Bree before she moves in that he likes to be left alone. He uses women for sex and isn’t interested in pursuing relationship but everything changes when Bree moves in. He enjoys spending time with her and wants to show her how to enjoy life. What will happen when he finds out who Bree really is? Will he run for the hills or will decide she is worth staying for?
“I want you more than anything else in this world.”
Wesley has always loved Bree but he knows that a life as an assassin is not what she wants. As hard as it is for him to watch her leave he knows it is what is best for her. I was so happy that he helped Bree escape the life she was being forced to live.
I loved the friendship that Bree and Wesley had. They were always there for each other and Wes would do anything to make Bree happy. I also loved the connection between Reid and Bree. They really balanced each other out. This is a definite must read book! Can’t wait to see what K.A. is working on next!!
