Hello everyone! I am please to bring you information on one of my top of 2014 reads. Sparrow by Sara Mack is a sweet, second chance romance and also a stand alone.
Sparrow by Sara Mack
When Kyle Dayton was seventeen, he lost his heart to Addison Parks.
It was easy to do. After spending countless summers of boredom with his grandmother at Buhl Lake, Kyle’s world turned upside down the minute Addison appeared. She was unlike any girl he had ever met; she was confident, out-going, and honest. She was beautiful inside and out, and she accepted Kyle for who he was ~ a young man without direction. They shared an amazing summer and, despite living miles apart, Kyle felt sure they had a future.
Until she vanished without a trace.
Where did she go? How could she disappear without saying a word? Was everything between them a lie? Unable to answer his own questions, Kyle had no choice other than to bury his memories and move on with his life. Eight years later, his hard work to forget is threatened when he is forced to return to Buhl Lake. Faced with reminders of Addison, Kyle wonders if he will ever discover the truth.
Little does he know it is about to be revealed.
Sparrow is the story of finding love, losing it, and the uncertain journey to reclaiming it again.
*Due to language and suggestive scenes, Sparrow is recommended for ages 17+

Whitney’s Five Star Review
One of my top reads for 2014!
If you read and loved Sara’s Guardian trilogy, I will warn you… Sparrow is very different. Guardian is paranormal trilogy and Sparrow is a stand alone contemporary/NA love story.
I loved the Guardian series as well but this story is just a breath of fresh air. Told solely from the male POV, Sparrow is a sweet, second chance romance with a new book boyfriend that will make you swoon.
I have zero criticism so lets just start off with the great! Kyle Dayton. Sigh… We first meet Kyle when he’s 16/17 and then again when he’s 25. My favorite thing about Kyle is that he is real. I think everyone has known a Kyle at one time or another. Heck, he could be living next door to you. He starts out as a cocky young teenager and then matures into a great guy but one whose past relationship problems really close him off.
Addison is his love interest and after one perfect summer together as teenagers, she disappears leaving Kyle with a broken heart and a million unanswered questions. Addison is spunky and cute but when Kyle runs into her again as adults, it’s clear she has been through a lot. Kyle still sees the fun girl he used to love and is torn on whether to just let her go or pursue the true love he never got over.
Sara’s character development and writing are solid. There are a few twists and turns throughout the story to keep you interested but this is a sweet, plot driven romance. There is definitely some sexual tension and one or two PG-13 scenes but this is a ‘clean’ novel. Sparrow is written solely from Kyle’s POV as this is really his story and Sara did an excellent job of capturing the male mind.
I laughed a few times, I teared up once or twice but the angst isn’t bad. A few parts of the story made me very nervous, not gonna lie. I can’t say what about because it would spoil the story but if you start to get frustrated (with the adult character storyline), keep reading and I promise things will be ok.
While I really liked Addison for the most part, one of the side characters Jen is the female I really came to love. Just maybe she’ll get her own story.

About Sara Mack
Sara Mack is a Michigan native who grew up with her nose in books. She is a wife and a hockey mom on top of being trapped in a windowless office forty hours a week. Her spare time is spent one-clicking on Amazon and devouring books on her Kindle, cleaning up after her kids and two elderly cats, attempting to keep her flower garden alive, and, of course, writing. She has an unnatural affinity for dark chocolate, iced tea, and bacon. She is also the author of the Guardian Trilogy (Guardian, Allegiant, Reborn).
